Not much more really, something like one kind of Pokémon forming its arms, another one its legs, another one its head.
Something like:
Pokemon 1: I'm good using my arms, but I can really move

Pokemon 2: Well I'm good with my feet, but I don't have hands

Pokemon 3: Oh, I have a keen eyesight and a good mind, but I can't move either

Pokemon 1&2&3: Let's cooperate together to create the perfect Pokemon!!
I hope you get my idea with this example, but I don't know how to develop it. Normal type sounds good as it is pretty neutral, maybe even Magic type as they can be fused with magic powers, and a diverse movepool also seems ok (think that every Pokemon of the bunch contributes with its attacks)

I agree to a Magic-type. There can be three smaller pieces that are magically connected to make a bigger one. The question is, what is the bigger one?
A good example of this can be found in the game Spectrobes. I can't find a good link to the one in particular, but there's one Spectrobe named Kubaku that is, essentially, the kind of thing you're talking about. It's a cylinder, a disc, and a cone that just float around each other, magically connected. Later, when they evolve, the three pieces combine into something that looks kind of like a jet. I'm not at all saying we should copy this, but do something around the idea of it.

I don't quite like the idea of unicells. But that's only because I have some eukaryots waiting to be put up once the Staff gets around to approving Razzenhine.

That's what I was thinking! I found this great article yesterday about a huge siphonophore that lives deep underwater and seems to catch its prey with glowing lures that look like isopods.

EDIT: Found it, it's not the original article I was looking for, but the info and pictures should suffice.

Yeah I based this idea on the Symbiophore, but don't you think we shouldn't do a jellyfish? I think we have enough of that, but the idea of a weird monster with tentacles (each tentacle being a Pokemon by itself) attracts me

You mean the Siphonophore right?
Anyway, will it be formed by entirely new pokémon species or known ones?

Wait a second here, we have overlooked at the fact that symbiosis is actually a beneficial relation between two or more different species.
The symbiosis idea kind of disappeared after a few posts. Do we stick with symbiosis, or do we abandon it for the Siphonophore?

I think symbiosis is the way to go, it could develop into a very intriguing idea if we capitalize on its potential.

But it's such a broad concept, we need to focus on one particular kind of symbiosis between organisms, otherwise we'll generalize it too much.

This concept may be close to what krlitoxs had in mind, only this guy is an amalgam of enemies, while in the pokémon each um... "part" (or living being) has a function doesn´t it? Also they are like beepidi or exeggcute, only closer.
Finally I really don´t know if that counts as symbiosis like the one clownfish and anemones have, but is this more or less what you were thinking krlitoxs?

And this is a symbiosis too, as each individual benefits of the other, alone they are weak and can't survive, but together make a succesful Pokémon.It's just a step ahead of the clownfish and the anemone

I was thinking more along the lines of jigglyclops's idea when I first read this. I kind of like the original idea for "arm PKMN", "leg PKMN", and "Head/torso PKMN" working together.

This is really cool! Incidentally, the Siphonophore is colonial, not symbiotic. Colonial organisms benefit, but can survive on their own; while symbiotic organisms become completely inseparable from eachother.
