Ninja and samurai are completely different things, and in a sense you are right, they could be rivals. Ninjas were more like mercenaries, working through stealth, trickery, and other covert methods to complete objectives, often as spies or assasins. Samurai followed a strict code of honor and swordsmanship, and served a single master, more like soldiers or bodyguards. Samurai wore distinctive armor, while ninjas were likely to wear plain clothing to blend in with civilians, or possibly black garb for infiltrations, with only light armor, if any.

Oh really? Well, I guess you could say that it's a samurai wearing black armor and has the ways of a ninja. So pretty much an armored ninja.

Crystal Cut, Flame Sword, Thunderblade... well just check out Possesword's movelist. (It's FA#174) We have a lot of sword moves, don't we? ;D

I think they can have a sword ability too.

SWORDMASTER
This Pokemon is very skilled at using swords, and as such can get a boost of power from it.
Boosts sword-related moves' power.
List of Sword moves:
Thunderblade
Fire Sword
Crystal Cut
Leaf Blade
Psycho Cut
Slash
Night Slash
Air Slash (I know it's special)
Iron Blade
Shine Sabre

So can I get a moveset? I don't know where to start with placing these moves. They should also know Swords Dance, Quick Attack, ExtremeSpeed, Scratch, Faint Attack, Spikes, & Toxic Spikes please. Some of these moves will have to be Egg moves so they all fit. And I'm not sure if Shine Sabre should be tutor only, because these guys seem naturlaly fit to learn a sword move. but, at the same time, they are the Dark type, so a Light type move really isn't their thing. Extra note: That might not be all of the Sword moves, and there is an obvious reason I didn't include Swords Dance.

In anime, air slash is depicted as a ball of air, not a blade-like move.

Well, too bad for the anime. In the games (and hopefully here) Air Slash is pretty much one of those shock waves sent out by ProtoMan. I consider that to be Air Slash, because Air Slash has to be a slash.

My problem with a bunch of the moves on Swordmaster is that while they could be used with a sword, they don't have to be. The ones that I refer to are Night Slash, Slash, Air Slash, and unfortunately, Psycho Cut (Since Alakazam can use it). Mystic Blade deserves to be on their though.
My problem with the ability at large is that these pokemon don't have as big a connection to swords as do many other pokemon, and as such it seems... odd... to give them the ability. Iron Fist works for Hitmonchan because the entire concept is around punching. This is based on ninjas, who might use swords, but not always, unlike, say, Gallade.

Too humanoid an idea to me, but again, that's just me. I... well, I like my pokemon being relatable to animal, plant or fungi, not anything human-originated.

I find Dark/Steel both an iffy combination and most certainly overused in these boards - and don't really catch why these really should be Steel to begin with. Using swords certainly is not reason enough, not to me, unless the sword is solidly a part of it's body, and not even then really(see also, Gallade and Scyther...)

Swordmaster, like EP said, is bit odd because a lot of them moves are just as easily non-blade attacks ;/

If I want a ninja, I'll go catch a Ninjaccoon.

Since the evo is not really supposed to be a samurai any more (but more like an armored ninja), how bout we change its name?

I haven't been able to learn a lot about these, but these names seem like they were taken from wrong sources. You see, I thought these were called Ninjab and Samurath. Or was my source incorrect, instead?

Devon and Silph Co. sources of mine concur on the usage of Ninjab, but instead of Samurath, they use the name Slashogun to refer to their evolution.

What does Devon & Silph have to do with it? Did they make the Plated Armor that is supposedly used to evolve Ninjab into Ninjarmor? Those are the names I like.
@EP: Oh, there's a Mystic Blade? That can be there too.
@FoW: You've somewhat got a point there, there's no reason for Ninjab to be Steel. Ninjarmor, however, is heavily plated and I think deserves to have that type. Also, what moves could be non-blade attacks?

I´m halfway with FoxOfWar in this one, halfway because it doesn´t have to be an animal or a plant, but I think the concept needs something to actually stand out and make someone say "hey I prefer this one over Ninjacoon because so and so." One way to get the meh feeling out of the way is striving for an original design, maybe it could have three eyes, maybe it could resemble an ancient idol, maybe it could be a kirby-like puffball kinda like Cragsquire, or maybe you can think of something? I´d start with: This pokémon is different from a stereotyped ninja because of: The blades, the armor... what else?

IMO Ninjaccoon isn't exactly what you'd call a ninja. The only thing ninja-y about it is that it has stealth, which doesn't classify it as a ninja. If it did, then the Schwa is a ninja, and he's not. These guys have more than stealth, they have experience with swords and are very swift (at least, Ninjab is, Ninarmor isn't so fast beacuse of its heavy armor). These guys are like the characters in Kung Fu Panda, only they're not tigers or praying mantises. And while I do see why someone might think that Slash, Air Slash, & Night Slash aren't sword moves, they are very much usable by swordsmen. Psycho Cut, on the otherhand, is realy only a sword move. Alakazam is just weird (I don't even see how it could slash in the first place. What would it hit with? Its spoons? Those can really cut someone...)

This is exactly our point; Close Combat can be used with fists, but it's not included in Iron Fist, and Psycho Cut is just ramming the opponent with focused psychic energy.
