No man, a real dealbreaker would be that you couldn´t exchange your last games pokémon, AT ALL. (I don´t recall if they already confirmed the contrary, though.)

I doubt we'll ever have anothe Gold and Silver are incompadible with Ruby and Sapphire. With Pal Park being kept in all Gen 4 games some form of it will be in Gen 5. Oh wouldn't it be cool if we got another Time Capsule? That would be cool!

Yes to time capsule.

I don't think there'll be a pal park through, since these will be intended for the 3DS which probably won't have the GBA slot. Being able to trade with Gen 4 games will probably be enough to fill the national dex, so they may well avoid something that probably won't be of interest to the target market (who will, when this is released, have been too young to play Generation 3 games) and that anyone who wants could just use the Gen 4 games as a relay.

These are not intended for the 3DS. These are going to be released on the DS. They might change that, but as of now they say its coming to the regular DS. Now I would say they might not add the Pal Park this time for the same reasons Time Psyduck mentioned.

I know they're DS games, but they'll probably be planned as much for the 3DS as for the DS, ie if there are DS features that will be absent from the 3DS (although other than the GBA slot I doubt there will be any) they won't use them for the games, and they'll probably at least think about how they play on the 3DS (such as the controls), even if they don't change anything. I seriously doubt they'll release a game on the older system just before a new console launches and not even consider how the game and new console interact.

That's a good point, but I don't think it will be too different. It wasn't much of a jump from the GBA to the DS, so I don't think it will be much of a jump from the DS to the 3DS. It will be interesting to see what happens in June.

True, Squirrelay. If Nintendo got lazy (like many times before) and ended up porting Pokémon to the 3DS, it won't have fancy 3D crap. Normally all you have to do is refine a game when you port it to a new console. The 3DS introduces a whole other style.

Not being able to trade at all would be a deal-breaker for me, certainly. I've spent too much time babying my critters(some from Emerald) to perfection to have them forgotten in the next gen :P

Though seeing as they would upset good 80% of the current playerbase, I kind of doubt they'd forgo that connection to IV

Yeah and besides there was too much to be introduced in Gen III: Natures, EVs and of course Abilities, not to mention new moves and hold items oh and also how was the pokémon caught and where.

Or the 3DS could be backwards compadible with the DS like the Wii is with the GCN. I think that Nintendo will keep this trend.

If anyone's seen the recent GameInformer magazine edition, they did an article on the 3DS. And let me tell you, it actually looks really good. They showcased a "Hidden Picture" game, in which you had to tilt the 3DS in different ways to find all of the objects. It's quite interesting.

Hey you Pikachu! was an N64 game, not a Gamecube game, so technically they could already have it on the DS. We know that the 3DS will have backwards compatibility. Also the game that GameInformer was showing is a DSiware game and that wasn't the 3DS.

I know that HYP was a N64 but with GCN power backing it it would be great! Or the could give us a true sequel to it. One where we can talk to Pikachu again and don't have to watch TV to do things.

Sarcasm is not fun.

And i already brought this issue up before. It appears like the sprites will be in the same style. The only minor adjustments that might come up are size and detail. But that won't be so difficult.
