Like EVERYONE did. The Light type is the most requested type in the Pokemon universe. I think.

I hope that if the Light-type is made, then it will not be strictly "Light is good and holy". I am sick of that viewpoint. Light is lasers, moonlight, biolumescience. (sorry, not using Firefox, so no Spell-check.) Corolibre is one example of the "Light is totally good and helpful" archetype that bothers me so much. If there was a pure Light-type that blinded anyone that saw it just for the spite of it....that would be a decent usage of actual, rather than philosophical, usages of light. Like, the sun: The sun might be goodness and life, but if you look at it for too long, you will go blind/have severe ocular damage. The life-giving sun also gives skin cancer by UV rays, too.

Due to clashing preferences, unless they do Light-types in a way I can appreciate, I do not advocate Light-types.

I agree with Coolsteph. I think PF's Light type is like what she said, not all good and holy. Plus, if they wanted to make a Light type, they would have done it in the second generation, when they added Steel and Dark type.

The thing is, the Dark type is NOT darkness, but actually sneaky, mean tactics, or just plain psychotic. For example, look at Drapion. It's not particularly dark colored, it's just really rampage-like.

This is why Nintendo is not likely to introduce a Light type, because Dark in the pokemon universe is more Chaos, while Psychic is more Order in the pokemon universe. Light's only real application would be actual light, and that would be a kind of odd thing to do IMHO, especially since they'd have to introduce a Murk-Type or something or make Shadow an actual type.

This may be biased though, as I've never liked the idea of a Light type.

Corolibre isn't a "good and holy" example of a light type because it is actually a ball of light. If our Light type meant "good and holy" Alpaquick would be Electric/Light because of its fur donations and fertile droppings.

In Japanese the Dark-type is called the "Evil-type" basically. So to offset that, the Light-type in Japanese would have to be the "Good-type".

I like your point about the PF Light-type Flarsable. I thought it was a pretty amusing.

If they did come out with a Light-type and they use the definition that I used. We could always call our Light-type the "Photon-type" since we use that definition.

While I would like to see a Light-type (have since Generation II), it certainly would cause a lot of headaches for the Staff. XD

....you are correct. Corolibre just bugs me. Just because it is helpful and beneficial does not mean it is good and holy. Checking its dark counterpart, it is not strictly merciless, just too occupied on other matters. If the line annoys me, I do not have to talk about them.

But by all means....Photon-type is more relevant to my interests than Holy Shield-esque Light-type.

Not any more than Dialga and Palkia, IMO. In fact, you can see certain motifs from those in Reshiram and Zekrom, as well as from Darkrai and others.

But I have to agree, these two new legendaries look awfully similar to those released in the last generation.

They do, a little, but the only discernible design similarities I can find is that Reshiram has toes quite like Palkia's, and Zekrom has stripes on its belly like Palkia also.

I was surprised by the complexity of Zerkrom's design, and that tail kind of reminds me of Slowbro's spiral-shaped Shellder. (LOL at alliteration)
Also, I just had a completely crazy idea after reading a few posts on other forums and deviantArt, what if Reshiram was the malevolent Dark-type and Zerkrom was the good guy?

Well, you have to remember that Reshiram is the main legendary in Black and Zekrom in White. Their color may not necessarily determine their "goodness" or "evilness". I'm not sure if Game Freak would really be smart enough to do something that interesting. And I agree. I'm starting to get a little tired of the Dragon-type legendaries. But the monochrome-style of Reshiram and Zekrom intrigues me, so I'll have to check it out.

Zekrom does look mechanical, so maybe Electric really is its type? And so if Zekrom doesn't have any connection to the Dark-type, I presume Reshiram doesn't have a connection to a Light-type or something else either, so maybe it's just part Flying-type?
