Plot: In a new Region, called Septera, there has arisen a new crimnal syndacate called D.A.R.K (Devious And Really Keen) who have begun to produce artificial Shadow Pokemon, which has nearly tripled there Shadow Pokemon problem. As a result, a specialized class of trainers has been authorized. These are called "Pokemon Tamers" and they are called so because, aside from their first three Pokemon, they must purify and tame Shadow Pokemon in order to capture new ones. The difference between artificial Shadow Pokemon and natural Shadow Pokemon is that natural Shadow Pokemon have a wider varity of moves (think of naturals as XD Shadow Pokemon and artificials as Colosseum Shadow Pokemon). Natural Shadow Pokemon are most often spawned as a result of close contact with an entity known as "The Darkness". All that is known about it is that it can close a Pokemon's heart instantly and it itself cannot be purified or tamed. Many think that it is simply a carnal entity of primal instinct, but Professor Spruce, the Pokemon Professor of Septera, has other theories.
On the subject of Septera, it is so named because it is made up of seeven fragmented areas with small land bridges in between. The areas are as follows:
Area 1: Area 1 includes three towns and four routes, and is the furthest west. Its cities include: Destini Town - A quaint town with a few houses, Prof. Spruce's Laboratory, and an exit to the East heading into Route 642. Heading along Route 642 will bring you to Waywoad Town, a slightly larger city with a small family of inventors who make PokeWalker-compatible Pokeballs for Tamers. Going north on Route 643 will bring one to the Lost Road, a cavern path that comes out on Route 644, which leads to Jasmirth City, the first Gym Town. Resident leader, Sakura, specialises in Grass-Types and is happy to engage in combat. Red Bridge is located slightly southeast of Route 645, and takes you directly to...
Area 2: Route 646 starts out this area, which is lush and filled with grasses and ponds. It heads south to Happalm City, which is the second gym town. Aqua is the resident gymn leader, specializing in Water-Types. She may be reluctant to accept to battle, but once she says yes she won't back down. Heading west out of Happalm Town leads directly onto Route 647, which is completely made of sea, and flows into sea routes 648 and 649 (the first heads further south, while the second heads east). Route 648 leads to Marina Isle, a place where one can see and possibly befriend wild MARILL and PSYDUCK. Route 649 is peppered with treacherous whirlpools, which require the use of HM06 Whirlpool to get by. Route 649 lets off at Reedrift Town, which is the third gym town you'll come across. The leader here, Daphne, specializes in Normal-Type Pokemon, and is nothing if not clumsy and ditsy.
Area 3: MORE AS PEOPLE GET THIS FAR!
Area 4: MORE AS PEOPLE GET THIS FAR!
Area 5: MORE AS PEOPLE GET THIS FAR!
Area 6: The only Area without any land brisges connecting it to the mainland. It is completely covered in an eternal night, and nothing but the hardiest Pokemon thrives here. It is also the only Area to naturally house The Darkness, and as such is the Area that houses the DARK HQ. It has no cities, no gyms, and only one Route: Route 666.
Area 7: MORE AS PEOPLE GET THIS FAR!
