Considering the supernatural dark nature of the Cargan Desert, you could make Maqueterra Ground/Dark when it's in the desert and make desert a seperate category after all. I'd say this would be nice, since both the Majestic Mountains and the Cargan Desert are huge, important areas that both deserve to be represented seperately.

To keep the list manageable, I'd drop the Sky category if I were you. Maqueterra is really land-based, so it wouldn't make sense for it to walk around through the sky and over clouds.

good point about dropping the sky form as it is primarily a land walker plus theres not much to copy in the sky
I also like the idea of having a desert form and the Ground Dark mix would work well considering there is no sand type or something to that effect

and if the desert is supernatural then dark would be appropriate considering the connection that type has to the weird and bizarre

I'd say so, yes; it belongs to towns and such, and I don't think we should give it yet another type just for that. Seven forms is plenty.

ShinEdit: just a thought, super dragon, but considering the types Maqueterra can be, would it be nice and logical to make #PF257 Terratlas a pure Ground-type?

Yes, but Route 228 & the Desert on Route 111 aren't supernatural darkness; as well as the Cargan Desert outside of the supernatural darkness, because there's more of that than what's in the darkness. And of course there's other mountains and their ranges like Mt. Coronet and Mt. Pyre. I'm trying to include everywhere in the whole Pokemon World, not just Bombur. And my opinion on the typing for Terratlas is that it can stay Water/Ground, but because Maqueterra's primary type is Ground, it can change to Ground/Water. Which reminds me, when Maqueterra is put on the site I'd have to say that Ground/Grass would be what's displayed (unless you want an altering Dex that changes the appearance and typing of Maqueterra every time you refresh the page, similar to Chesset.)

Well, this pokémon does originate in Bombur, so that continent should be in mind first. It's less worse than Nintendo and its location-based evolutions anyway.
Also, it could be this: it just becomes Ground/Dark for the Cargan Desert, and turns into either pure Ground or Ground/Rock for other desert-like areas.
Although, even if it's a bit of a stretch, there are some reasons for making it Ground/Dark in all deserts, since deserts are harsh, dry places where it's every man for themselves, and because deserts at night are very, very dark.

An altering dex is indeed what I would like to see happening, but I can't promise anything.

I will note/reveal that one of the main reasons for me trying to apply the entire Pokemon World is that this suggestion is cool and hopefully my RPG dude will cach a Terratlas and evolve it, so I'd need typing for everywhere because I plan to have him traverse the world (At least, the four main regions). Of course, if I can't do that then it doesn't really matter.

Sure, I understand. However, I think deserts are too awesome to get just grouped together with mountains; they deserve their own representation. Lacking a better option, I'd say we should just use Ground/Dark for all of them, not just because of the Cargan Desert, but also because of the reasons in my previous post.

I also understand that you'd like to have this pokémon on your team. I sure do too, so kudos to super dragon!

Possibly, but that makes things awfully complicated.

I think it's easiest to just make it Ground/Dark in the supernatural Cargan Desert and make it Ground/Rock in all other sandy regions. That solves the 'all regions' issue, while still providing us with a reason to make a separate desert form of it.

Wow, that was awesome. My basic idea for an attack and ability got resolved and reconciled into a compromise and I wasn't even here for it ha. That being said I think the changes are excellent improvements. I also meant for Terrablast to be a Special attack (don't know why I put other) and to be a sig move specific to Maqueterra when I created it.

I also think Terratlas should stay as ground/water because it represents a whole atlas, not a specific region, still its ambiguity makes it a great pre-evo candidate.

Can it at leats be changed to Ground/Water instead of Water/Ground? So the two have the same primary type?

Yup, I've already fixed that. It's a minor detail after all, so super dragon will probably okay with it. If he's not, I'll change it back, of course.

nope Ive got no troubles with it like you said its a minor detail in the long run
i must say i agree to keep them both Ground Water if only on the point that Terratlas was used on ships to navigate

I just would like to take second to thank all you guys for helping out with Maqueterra

as a side note Ive just realized the Terra part of both of there names has a twofold meaning because theres Tera=earth but could also be part of Terrapin yet another name for turtles

That gives me a GREAT name for a prevo for terratlas: Terrapinto (terra- earth, terrapin- kind of turtle, pinto- representing the size and color of a pinto bean)
