I was reading H. G. Wells' novel, War of the worlds, and by any chance, could Trilite be somewhat based off of the Martian's tripods?

But what about the Tripods from the When the Tripods Came series? Those ones have tentacle-like things similar to those on Trilite.

And the first book was published 69 years after War of the Worlds. I'd say that Youd got the idea from Wells.

Botispine, Trilite's original suggestor, specifically stated the the idea for Trilite came from the War of the Worlds movie. (If I recall correctly, they were approved as a two-stage line before the May Hack; Trilite appeared once they were resuggested.)
