(note: I know it is fine for Steph to keep Sableye as a starter, but she does not know that and thus shall act like it)
Steph looked over the edge of the ship, watching the roiling wake of the vessel. Although Shellos did not poke above the waves, like Sinnoh, some Wingull cried overhead, and it made her think of Hoenn.
Steph saw a shape perching on the railing near her. "Sableye? What are you doing here?" Steph asked Sableye incredulously. "All the others stayed back at Hoenn."
"Sableye! Sable....Sableye...." Sableye cried out. Steph understood its words, however. It was a skill she developed while journeying with her Pokémon, so she could know how her Pokémon thought, and thus make their teamwork stronger. Sableye missed her too much when she was journeying in Sinnoh, so he needed to go with her and boarded the ship. "I am not sure if Professor Idaho would approve of that, through. It might have complications on the matter of starter Pokémon. Since you want to be with me so much, we should consult with him and check if we can do that."
Eventually the ship came to its destination of Anchore Ports, and Steph and her Pokémon disembarked. Steph would have to implement a map of this region, Bombur, to her PokéNav, for not having an idea where one was would be rather inconvenient.
-_-_-_-_-
With some helpful directions from a fisherman, whose speaking patterns greatly annoyed her but were regardless serviceable, Steph found the lab of Anchore Town.
Steph thought about walking into the lab directly----with this the case of Professor Birch's and Professor Rowan's labs, she expected Professor Idaho would be used to Trainers barging in---but to be polite, she knocked.
