I like the idea of a hippocampus pokemon, but why is the first stage magic type? If just the evolution was part magic, then you could come up with an interesting evolution method

Pretty good point, Rahjet. I also like the idea that it gains the Magic part via evolution.

Other than that, Hippocampi are very interesting and cool creatures... I want one.

I might be able to draw concept art for this if you want, but with the warning that I'm likely getting my Heart Gold tomorrow, so... *cough!*

To be honest, I don't get why these can't be both part Magic-type, as ZeldaFan intends them to be. They both seem magic-ish enough to me, and not every pokémon should evolve in a unique way, because we wouldn't have any pokémon left that evolve simply by levelling up.

Flarsy, Hippocampus are basically Horse Mermaids. Half-horse, half-fish.

I agree - these guys seem fine by level up, with the magic. Hippocampi are generally associated with magic, and so I think Magic works for both.

I didn't mean it to evolve in unique way; it can easily gain a type while evolving via level-up. I'm generally a strong advocate for level-up evolution, for that matter.

Eh, whatever; Water/Magic is a cool combination and it works whether or not the first form is actually Magic in type or just is heavily leaning to that direction without actually being Magic-type. (See also: Magikarp->Gyarados, Corphish->Crawdaunt, Shellos->Gastrodon... they all gain a type when evolving via level-up.)

I like foxofwar's idea even better than my own, similar to those other water type level-uppers. but I'm fine with it keeping the type combination because I see the connection between the mermaid association with hippocampi

The dex info (which I'll add when I have a little free time) mentions that Campony use their magic to conceal themselves from others, which is why there are so rarely seen and some consider them a myth. Magicampus, on the other hand, use their magic for many purposes from healing to offensive fighting.

i say that zeldafan wanting the hippocampi pokemon to both be magic isn't bad at all it seems that mythical creatures should be magic to me

Added dexes for Campony, but I'm having trouble with info for Magicampus. Any ideas? Also added Illusion to their movelist, it seemed a natural fit.

Give us some more info about magicampus and we can probably make a dex about it. As of this moment i know nothing about magicampus but its description.
