Sableye was right, and it didn't take long for the Pokemon to return to their Trainer. It's a good thing they did, because an odd event was about to unfold. A mysterious pink mist formed from nowhere and quickly expanded to fill the whole Gym. It left as soon as it came, and with it Seth and Steph disappeared, and the gym's other inhabitants couldn't seem to remember anyone by those two names in their lives...

((So I might need some better roleplaying skills, because I haven't done it in months. Anyway, this amnesia mist only lasts until they see Steph and Seth again, but since they've been kidnapped that will be a little harder than you  might imagine.))

(Technically, Cyrus did respond, but I understand your impatience, Flarsable. We hope to meet up with and perhaps [definitely, in Steph's case] join with Cyrus and Lumin's traveling party again, but we won't be deliberately seeking them out.)
(Translated Poké-speech---as Steph perceives it--- in brackets.)
"[What?]" Sableye said as the pink mist floated towards him.
"Heruh?" Steph muttered, puzzled. As it approached---faster and faster---we tried to run away from it. It only increased its speed. She could feel a peculiar tingling when the soft mist touched her, and something like the faint, irregular vibration she could feel when a strong Psychic-type attack was being used. It seemed to permeate her, until she was numb and felt nothing but the tingling. She let out a scream as the mist crept over her eyes.

Steph had no idea how much time had passed since she was lifted---stolen away and carried up---by seemingly psychic means. At first, she couldn't shake off her feelings of terror and helplessness; nothing like this had ever occurred to her. Even evil teams had never directly attacked Trainers.

"I'm the Champion of Hoenn and Sinnoh. I can deal with this," she reassured herself aloud. To further soothe her nerves---for having Pokémon around made her feel protected, powerful even---she dropped a hand to her Poké Ball belt. Tiquail, Normgon, and Sableye's unfilled ball---but one of them didn't feel right. It didn't seem to have the heft of a full ball, and it should have. Steph felt panic. She grasped the ball in her hand and moved a finger to the button to open it. But she didn't open it---her memory provided the answer. Ariados.

The toughest fighter she had, the most obedient, the most dependable, the one she felt had the most potential---confiscated before she could even use it in a real battle. The flower that never blooms is the most beautiful, she thought, frustration and sadness weakly clutching her throat.

"[Steph!]" Sableye squawked. He scampered over to her. "[Do you know where we are?]"

"I don't know, Sableye."

Steph looked around. There was tasteful wallpaper of broad pink flowers---lotuses. A long pink lounge couch with a huge lump on the far side was on one end, and a glossy, classy-looking desk at the other. There was a poster of a pinkish, stylized eye---resembling the children's card game symbol for the Psychic type---on the wall. Beneath it were the words: "Friends don't let friends suffer. Let's stick together and enjoy a harmonious life!" Steph found it creepy.

The lump on the couch made a sound. "Seth?" Steph guessed. She walked over to investigate.
