Close! Switch the former but change the lava and remove a couple letters for the latter.

Bulls-eye! Hey, where are the others? I only see soble. Also, I think I gave a bad hint... too revealing.

After returning to the room, you recite the names of the two Pokemon which cause the paintings to glow. A staircase leading upwards appears in the wall next to the Armagma painting. The paintings stop glowing, and you ascend. When you reach the top, you are in an alcove with another painting & another plaque. This painting has a flying serpent covered in small crystals flying over a volcano & a large glacier, where what appears to be Armagma & Wyvice at the summits, respectfully. You see pillars of both lava & ice, and meteors & snow clouds, but all of it is encased in that same crystal. The two legendaries are encased in it too.
You read the plaque below:

It matters not whether it is the Day of Fire or Ice,
as the Amethyst Pokemon will save us.
Neither the Magma nor the Freeze Pokemon can withstand it.
Because our dragon, the savior, will travail.

After reading the hopeful message, you leave the temple.

The closest one so far is Amethagon being off by only a few letters. HINT: Crystal is NOT involved in the name whatsoever. Also, there's a Y in it.

Okay, I think it's about time I gave the answer. It is...
Amydragon!
You return to the picture and recite the name again. The picture & plaque glow again, and a room appears to the right. You go into it, and see three PIKs (Pokemon Info Kiosk) on the three macots.

Armagma, the Magma Pokemon. Armagma is a Pokemon spoken of in legends that is shown to have the power to incinerate the planet. It awakes every 500 years to battle against Wyvice.

Wyvice, the Freeze Pokemon. Wyvice battles with Armagma every 500 years, and the power it possesses as shown in its legends could create a new Ice Age.

Amydragon, the Amethyst Pokemon. When Armagma & Wyvice fight, it comes and puts everything back to normal. It locks away the combatants and wreckage in amethyst and then seals the two away and shatters the destruction.

After reading the PIKs, you hear a rumbling noise. the room caves in and you narrowly escape. You notice that the staircase has grown more stairs, and it leds to a second story. You ascend to the top and go in the room. In here, you see four statues of wolves, three of them forming a triangle around the one in the center. They are painted red, yellow, and sky-blue, one of each. The one in the center is much larger than the others, and it is colored black with gray stripes on the sides, and has glowing red eyes. The four statues all have plaques on them. You read them:

The Wolf of Fire. Created to control the element, if it were destroyed then wildfires would start everywhere.
The Wolf of Ice. If it didn't exist, the world would start freezing over from having no control.
The Wolf of Thunder. The sky would be endless thunderstorms had it not been here to control them.
The Wolf of Darkness. It has superb powers and can use them to settle the other Wolves if things get out of hand. It has a fierce look to it.

You leave the temple, considering what might be the names of the four.

I've always hated the fire-ice-thunder trios. It's becoming way too common.

How about instead of fire and ice wolves, you do rock and wind wolves?
