Technically it was Quagsire who grabbed the beacon...
I don't know how the Wailord swam deeper. Maybe they're better than the others? Trained to take pressure?
I'm only the announcer. I don't know how it happened.

Good morning, and welcome to River Aledi-jay! We are here upstream for the Open Water event, where contestants will first swim down the river, into the lake, back into a rapid river, then into the sea.

Sorry about missing speed diving. I was busy Wail-watching with Bob. Can someone who saw it fill me in?

Bob: We don't have good weather today. Not good for the last day. It's raining.

JDL: Yes, I can tell. So, Bob: did you have a good time as an announcer here?

Bob: Sure! I mean, just spectating is fun. Commentating... this is one of the best things I've ever done.

JDL: Which really doesn't say something. You do realize that you are nothing but a figment of my imagination?

Bob: Umm...

JDL: YOU DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING!

3... 2... 1... Go!

Feraligatr starts being competitive. It turns around and slashes Azumarill, knocking it back. Dodging the flying Azumarill, Blastoise Withdraws and Hydro Cannons through the river... again.

Bob: Yeah, these tactics get a bit boring.

Surskit is skating along, dodging rocks as it goes. Though, it was suddenly sent flying from the mighty power of Feraligatr... it's on a rampage!

Quagsire rides on top of a wave of Muddy Water... again.

Bob: Augh!

Empoleon jets through the river, and barely misses a rock. Little did it know, Surskit was lodged on its neck.

Kingdra noticed the Surskit, and tried to hit it with a Hydro Pump, but missed and hit Empoleon. Enraged, Empoleon wheeled around and attacked Kingdra in a fury, flinging Surskite onto lodging into Blastoise's shell. It looks kind of comfortable.

Halfway through lake, Lanturn dove deep underwater. I wonder why? Oh, now I know.

Lanturn just launched a Thunderbolt underwater and shocked the water around it, damaging a lot of the contestants at once.

Into the rapids they go!

Bob: Crashing through the rocks, as a Pokémon we go, fighting for the best, cringing all the way! Mouths on Pokémon growl, making spirits dangerous, and it's hazardous to crash and slide in the rapids we go toniiiight!

JDL: ...no.

Surskit... fell asleep! In Blastoise! What the sardines?

Boob: I don't think Blastoise noticed it...

Indeed it didn't. Blastoise continued crashing and spinning in its shell, rocketing with its cannons. Oh wow... I think Blastoise make good means of transportation...

Bob: Is Feraligatr... umm... Surfing on it?

JDL: I believe so...

Azumarill enveloped itself in a bubble and floated towards Blastoise, holding on for its dear life.

Bob: It's getting kind of crowded...

Kingdra rushes up and... Oh no. Nononono.

Bob: Now that's just not right.

So there Blastoise went, with Surskit hiding in its shell, Feraligatr surfing on it like a surfboard, Azumarill holding on to a cannon for its dear life, Kingdra with its tail stuck in the Blastoise's head hole, and Empoleon holding onto Kingdra's head, Lanturn and Quagsire with their heads stuck in Blastoise's arm holes.

Bob: Umm...

JDL: Yeah... no...

So they race into the sea, into the goal, and Lanturn faints the entire group (except Quagsire) with Thunder.

See that waterfall? That's Aledi-jay falls.

Ready... Set... Go!

Everyone starts using HM 07

Sharpedo, with torpedo-like speed, boosts upwards and crashes into a rock outcropping, falling down into the lake unconscious.

Crawdaunt smashes the rock, only to lose balance and end up in a similar fate as Sharpedo.

Lanturn leaps up in one great leap and reaches the top first.

Lapras sort of belly-flopped up.

The Gorebyss focuses its psychic powers and climbs up.

No other interesting things.

Last Day, Last Event, Fencing

This is the last event of the festival, and I will describe it to the best of my ability!

Bob: Yes, me too!

JDL: We gather here again at Lugia trench, where Pokémon will be pitted against each other in an underwater swordfight.

Bob: And since it's almost nighttime, they'll have a hard time seeing!

JDL: Let the battle... commence!

My Golduck swam out and sent a pulse of Psychic through its sword into the water, hitting Kabutops. Angered, they engage in a match, slashing are parrying each other. Whilst they are busy hacking at each other, Huntail swoops in from under with a surprise attack, nearly hitting the two. Foes seconds ago, Kabutops and Golduck team up to punish the meddling Huntail.

Chasing Huntail around, the two fire pulses of Psychic and AncientPower, finally striking Huntail down with a slash from Kabutops. The two return into combat.

Meanwhile, Octillery is swooping around the Poliwrath, creating great bellows of ink, making the frog blind. Waving its sword about, it nearly slashes the nearby Quagsire and a Buizel. Boosting in with an Octazooka, Octillery strikes the blind Poliwrath right in the middle of its spiral.

Buizel, angry at Octillery, spins its tails to disperse the ink, and tries stabbing at the octopus. Despite not being an octorok, Octillery shoots seed bullets from its mouth and making Buizel flinch, following with a stab in the arm.

Meanwhile, Quagsire is locked in combat with Floatzel, while shooting trails of mud to block the weasel's view. Floatzel spins its tails to easily avoid the mud, and rushes in for the kill.

Octillery now becomes offensive, and homes in on Floatzel with Lock On. At the last moment, Floatzel spins around and parries the strike, leaving Octillery open for a moment, and takes revenge with an uppercut.

Floatzel now faces Kabutops, who has defeated Golduck. It avoids barrages of AncientPower and tries to attack, only to be blocked by Kabutops' scythes.

Slashing madly at Floatzel, Kabutops scores a lucky hit and wins the event.

This festival was a good one! Only one event was missed due to a mistake, and all others went well. Contestants won, contestants lost, miracles happened, and we all had a great time.

Trying to sound poetic, JDL, the announcer and founder of the Pokélympics gives one final speech.

The Torch is doused by all of the water pokémon, and it sinks into the Lugia trench, to be uncovered in the Summer.
