Yeah, and correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't a whole bunch of pokemon have already been approved for D/P style? Then we might not even have much chance to suggest pokemon before having to switch to gen 5.

If you mean regular pokémon suggestions, then no. But we do have pokémon already planned for D/P, yes, the starters among them. Ultimately, though, it is our goal to establish a healthy balance between suggestions by staff and other members of our community. Visitor suggestions will be given priority over those of the staff more often than not.

We still haven't decided if there's going to be a new legendary contest, but the possibility hasn't been discarded yet. Only time will tell.

By the way, I'd like to rectify a mistake I made at the top. I remembered that we did approve some pokémon for D/P after all, namely the evolutions of Farfetch'd; I forgot to take community works into account. Still, they're not that many.

I tame the burninators.

Here's how the Slakoth line really goes through evolution:

Slakoth drinks a Red Bull, causing it to get hyper and evolve into Vigoroth.
The caffeine rush ends, causing Vigoroth to evolve into Slaking.

Don't forget that we're doing all these preparations before switching to make future Switches faster ;P It took us less time to move from GSC to RSE, for example, so hopefully the same should be the case when we move to the 5th gen.

1st-gen to 2nd-gen was marred by the Pokémon Factory actually going offline. The site was completely nonexistant for a long time, and when it was brought back on, it was run by almost a completely different set of staff. I think GS-style dexes may have been a project that was in the works when the site went down, but for the most part, the original PF run by Mewthree and Frogglet used 1st-gen dexes, and the new PF started by Culthulhu opened with 2nd-gen dexes.
