The sun began to set as Illovue and Rogue left the hive. This was usually the time when the Combee's would begin to sleep, but they still seemed as vigorous as ever. Which meant Rogue and Illovue still needed to remain cautious or else they might become one of their prisoners.

Along the path Rogue asked, "So where did you say you saw them again, Illovue?" "They were growing under an odd-looking tree in one of the clearings we passed by." said Illovue, "Odd-looking tree...?" Rogue tilted his head as Illovue added, "Yeah, it had pinkish, swirly leaves all over it." She said, "I've never seen a pink tree before but whatever, let's hope we find it."

It was finally nighttime, but the brain-washed Combee were still out n' about and were still searching for Illovue and Rogue. "Y'know Illovue, I think we should look for the berries tomorrow, we might have a finding the berries if we had more energy." Rogue said, "But what about Klutz and my brother?! We can't waste any time finding them! And what if the Combee find us while we're sleeping?!" said Illovue worriedly, "I know we can't waste any time, but if we're exhausted then we won't be able to fend off any Combee attacks or ambushes!" exclaimed Rogue, "A-Alright then... I guess we could rest around here for the night. But we have to find a safe spot." Rogue pointed out a spot where the Combee might not find and so he and Illovue slept there for the night.

... a group of Beedrill and their Weedle children! They wanted to help Rogue take down the evil Queen's reign and get Eastern Manifold out from under her canopy of captivity. "We can help you with the berries!" One Weedle said, "If you want us to, that is..." Rogue looked down at the Weedle and with an excited look on his face he told her, "Sure! We need all the help we can get if we're to take down the hive! C'mon, let's grab all the Watmel berries we can!" Rogue and Illovue were determined to get back Volvue and Klutz from the Queen's clutches. And so they grabbed all the berries they could and headed straight for the hive.


The hive was in sight, the Combee were everywhere around the hive, but that didn't discourage them, they were still determined to get their friends back. "Are the Watmel berries filled with PoisonPowder? Okay, check. Are they in place? ... okay, check. Alright, everyone, get into your positions! And...! FIRE!!" The Beedrills thrusted the berries into the air and shot the powder-filled berries with their Twinneedle and Poison Sting attacks. The berries exploded, and purple gas was everywhere, luckily for the Beedril, they were resistant to the poison and with their compound eyes they could see through the thick, purple cloud. And so they carried Rogue and Illovue into the hive and stayed at the entrance so to prevent any other Combee from coming in.

Rogue and Illovue were hacking and coughing because of the smoke, but they tried not to let it slow them down.

The throne room was bigger than Rogue and Illovue thought, there were sculptures and chandeliers made of glittering, crystallized honey everywhere, it was an amazing sight. "I don't see the Queen anywhere, Illovue, where could she be?" wondered Rogue, "Looking for me, eh?" said the voice in the distance, "Illovue! It's her! She's on the throne!" Rogue and Illovue found the Queen, but Volvue and Klutz were nowhere to be found. "Where is my brother you psychopath?!" Illovue shouted, "You know where he is! Now tell us or me and Rogue will have to force out the answers!" Illovue was infuriated, but she knew she had to keep cool and not let her anger get the best of her. "Gah ha ha ha!" The Queen laughed, "Is he the one you're talking about?" The Queen lifted her arm and suddenly a hole opened up in the floor, then a pillar came out of it with Volvue and Klutz tied to it, "Volvue! Klutz! They're okay!" said Rogue with a sigh of relief, "Let them go, you fiend!" yelled Illovue, she was going to get them back no matter what. "Ha, you're not getting them back without a fight! Now, my Combee children, exterminate these pests!" Suddenly, Combee began to break through the walls and started to cluster around the Queen, creating a living barrier. "Oh great, she brought out more of those annoying Combee. Ugh..." Illovue was tired of the seemingly endless Combee she fought earlier, but she knew they'd be defenseless without their Queen so she quickly constructed a plan, "Rogue! You go untie my brother and Klutz! I've got a Queen to defeat." "Okay, Illovue, do your best!" Rogue quickly flew to Volvue and Klutz's aid, untying them as fast as he could. As soon as he was loose, Klutz ran to Rogue and hugged him as hard as he could. Rogue knew this was a very traumatizing experience for Klutz.

"Rogue... I'm sorry... for not being strong enough..." Volvue looked down to his legs and started to cry a bit, "I could've... I could've gotten me Klutz away. But... I was..." Rogue stopped Volvue and said, "Volvue, it's alright. I understand. There's no need to cry, crying will get you nowhere." Volvue looked up at Rogue and wiped his tears, "Thank you... so much." Volvue smiled. "Now come on! We've got to help Illovue!" Rogue flew away to help Illovue while Volvue protected Klutz. Klutz seemed eager to help, but seeing as he was only a baby Volvue couldn't let him go.

"Graaah!!" Illovue launched a Quick Attack at the Combee barrier and broke right through it, she then went into the barrier and glared at Vespiquen. "Pah, it's almost sad how pathetically weak those Combee are. Ah, well, at least there are plenty at my disposal." "You heartless jerk! These Combee are innocent Pokemon, and yet you let them run amok, fighting while brainwashed! You're just... just... ugh!! You make me sick!" Illovue had never been this mad at anyone before, this was a whole, new level of anger. "Ha ha ha! You think I care about these peasants? Gah ha ha, you're one dumb, little insect, aren't you? Ha, now you're going to be crushed like one." Vespiquen called out an Attack Order and the Combees began to strike Illovue with their Tackle attack. She was getting beaten continuously, "Urgh! ...There's too many... of them...! Uaah!" Illovue fell to the floor, she couldn't take the onslaught of Tackles any longer. "I-Illovue! Get up!" Rogue picked Illovue up and shook her, hoping she'd open her eyes. "Come on, Illovue! It isn't over yet! It... it can't be! Not... not yet..." Rogue's eyes began to tear up, "Gah ha ha ha! She didn't even put up a fight. She's pathetically weak." "You...! You monster!" Mothim dashed at Vespiquen and launched a Psybeam straight at her, Rogue thought it was a perfect shot, but he was wrong, Vespiquen had a wall of Combee block the beam. "Is that all you've got?" Vespiquen taunted Rogue, "That's the least of my power! Take this!" Rogue shot a Psybeam and followed up with Gust. It was a successful hit! "Urgh! You're quite... ungh... strong for a... p-peasant..." As Vespiquen trembled, Rogue noticed something, she was taken down awfully fast, right then he knew her weakness! Her weakness was her lack of strength which she concealed using her seemingly endless supply of Combee soldiers. "And you call us weak, you're the one who's a fragile coward! You hide behind all these Combee and force them to fight! Hmph, you're all talk." Rogue hit her with a powerful Gust. Vespiquen fell to the floor, she had no more energy to get up and fight. "Gah..." Illovue was waking up, "I-Illovue! You're okay!" Rogue helped her up, "Yeah... I-I'm fine." "Good."

Illovue turned back to Vespiquen, ignoring Rogue, "So, any last words before I begin your end?" There was a long pause before Vespiquen anwered, "I... I'm... sorry... for everything..." Illovue and Rogue were dumbfounded by her words, "I doubt I'll be able to forgive you, Vespiquen. No, not for taking Volvue... that was the final straw." "I... I understand completely, but before you finish me off, hear me out. I was consumed by greed... the Vespiquen you saw earlier was not me... I swear. I would... I would never do such a thing..." She paused, then continued, "I made a pact... with someone named Exodus." "Exodus?" said Illovue, "Who's that?" She asked, "I am not sure... but he seemed to have a dark, mysterious air about him. He wasn't normal... anyway, this pact, it was a deal. he promised me material pleasures, eternal life, and rule over my own 'Shadow Army'... I should've known better than to do that, but... I-I was... desperate..." Vespiquen began to tear up, "You see, this hive was not always this... lavish and gaudy, it was desolate and nearly destroyed. Ever since the Manifold War during the reign of Queen Vespiquen V this hive was nearly turned to rubble, and my mother, who was Queen Vespiquen V, died... her last words were said to one of her finest generals, even he hasn't told me of her last words... anyway, during my reign as a child I did not know what to do with the castle... or the Combee. Then, one day I was outside watching the sun set on the cliff behind the hive when Exodus came up to me, and like I said before, he promised me many things... as long as I agreed to let him have one thing." "What was that thing?" asked Illovue, "It was a bottle of Crystal Wax. An extremely rare wax that was created by the first Queen. I had given him the heirloom and so he unleashed a dark aura into the Combee... and from then on everything changed..." Vespiquen began to cry again, "I'm so... so sorry for all the trouble I've caused you... it's all my fault this happened..." "Oh, Vespiquen..." said Rogue in pity. "... I think I've cried enough. Goodbye... and thank you for bringing me back to my senses, you have... my eternal gratitude... take... take the passageway... over there..." Vespiquen breathed her last breath and fell to the floor, "V-...Vespiquen..." Rogue felt terribly sad for what had happened, "C'mon Rogue, let's go." Rogue followed Illovue and took Volvue and Klutz with them. "Hey Illovue, what happened to Vespiquen?" asked Volvue, "She's... in a better place now." answered Rogue, "Oh... oh man...".

The group exited the hive. As they left, the residents of the forest area near the hive entered the room, "Is that the Queen?" asked the hooded Pokemon Rogue met earlier, "Yes, yes it is." Answered a Combee that was taken prisoner. The hooded Pokemon walked up to Vespiquen and noticed something, it was a soft crying, "Huh? Is that... crying?" The hooded Pokemon looked behind Vespiquen and saw a baby grub, "Hm? A grub...? She must have been caring for the next queen..." This assumption was true, surprisingly, Rogue and the others did not notice.

The hooded Pokemon held the baby grub and placed the baby near the other Pokemon, "I must leave now. Good luck with your next Queen." She exited the hive through the hidden passageway that Rogue and the others used.

"So, Rogue... is all this finally over?" asked Volvue, "Yes, yes it is... for now." The sun set and the day was finally over.
