Getting closer, but no, it is not buoyant ^-^

More hints:

The Orb has something to do with all kinds of bodies of water, from deep oceans to small ponds.
You're looking at whatever the symbol represents from above.

Congrats to Cacapulse! The remaining Orb indeed represents the Benthic-type, which represents aquatic bottom-dwellers!

Explanations:
- The symbol you're looking at is based on our very own #PF146 Benthictha! You're looking at the creature from above, and it is partially covered by sand particles. The Orb's color is murky, which I felt was fitting.
- All bodies of water do have a benthic zone: oceans, lakes, rivers, seas, ponds. Examples of benthic zones are sand bottoms, rock outcrops, coral, and bay mud. So, the sand or mud on the bottom of a pond could be a benthic zone and have organisms in it. The more interesting of benthic zones are of course those found in the depths of dark oceans.
- As sovereign already described, organisms living in a benthic zone are called benthos. Benthos are the organisms which live in the benthic zone, and are different from those elsewhere in the water column. Many are adapted to live on the substrate (bottom), and some are permanently attached to the bottom. Some benthos are adapted to deep-water pressure and cannot survive in the upper parts of the water column. Interestingly enough, some bacteria and amoeba count as benthos as well, so guessing bacteria was half-right ;P

All in all, since these creatures from the benthic zone are so different from creatures elsewhere in the water column, and have a close relationship to the bottom, a new type could work out for them. This would be a split in the (very numerous) Water-type.


Congrats to Pielord, soble, Drufle and Cacapulse for guessing the correct types. I'll edit the first post to include the types' names.
As promised, three more legendary Orbs will come ASAP!

Yeah, basically it is. Then again, seaweed could be Benthic-type as well. Personally, I think it's a very interesting type, but I'll admit that it most likely wouldn't really work in-game. Of course, a lot of fake types wouldn't work, but it's still much fun to come up with interesting ones ^-^

@soble: looks nice! Though it somehow seems as if the Orbs are all stretched somewhat, which makes the symbols look disformed...
As for the Shadow Orb, the problems with that are: Shadow is not a type, but a status; and more importantly, I cannot find a symbol that suits it at all. I tried Lugia's eye (from XD) but it does not fit on an Orb due to the fact that it's thin and long.

You're right, though: Benthic is a physical version of Water ^-^ If you take another look at the first post's rows of Orbs, to which these six new Orbs are added, you'll notice that the first and second row (from Normal to Steel) are all physical types, while the third and fourth row (from Fire to Light) are all special types. (Time and the upcoming three are legendary types.)
As far as concept goes, however, Benthic could be (somewhat, but not entirely) seen as a cross between Water and Ground.

@sovereign: Good point. Keep in mind that you've already seen one Legendary Type Orb, though, namely Time ^^

I think I will let you all decide what to do next:
1. Guess what the three Legendary Type Orbs are before seeing the Orbs themselves and after they are guessed, I will post the Orbs;
2. I will post the Orbs and everyone can guess like we did this time;
3. Guess what the Orbs are before seeing them, but without me telling the answer, and guess again after you have seen the Orbs.
