I did the first one a while back:

it's not that good.

If you can please. I've been unwell latley and don't have the energy to sprite. I know it sounds crazy but all you do is ay down, eat and sleep, you get so little energy. In case you are wondering too, I am like this because I damaged the ligaments in my foot and can't walk without crutches

Slightly. You can't really see its right (our left) arm and the skin pallet needs to be lighter. Same with the yellow.

Hey guys... remember Giraroot? Well here he is - in sprite form! Haz - I wasn't sure if you still needed advance format. So made a 80x80, and a 64x64.

@Pielord - I love Pyrorth, but I don;t think it should be a starter as it's too out there. Not... animal like. However - I think a fire hedgehog would be great! COuld you sprite that perhaps?

Oh yeah! The fire snail thing. I like it. The one thing about it is that it might be too similar to Magcargo. Well, it depends how JDL makes it look. Wait... JDL, no offense, but CAN you scratch sprite?

EDIT: I remembered! Click on Giraroot's sprites - they're linked thumbnails, and thus those images are not the actual size. If you click, you will see them at their actual size - in addition, they're much more clean looking if you do so.

YES I can! Go to Creative Projects. In the archives somewhere, I have a sprite shop. And that's not a snail. It's a reptilian thing with a Snail-like shell on its back. EDIT: Here it is! Sorry, it was a bit rushed.

My thoughts exactly. A suggestion for the starter itself:
Make it a quadruped (standing on all fours) with a shorter neck and tail, plus shrinking the shell size. You could add the feet to the front legs too.
I hope that didn't sound too hasrh, it wasn't supposed to be harsh at all.
