The Caterpie crawled and crawled until it could crawl no more. Exhausted, it looked around for a good tree to sleep in.

...another Hoothoot flew out from the trees. "Hoot, what are you doing?! That Caterpie's our guest! Did you forget this is our hotel tree?!" Hoot looked up at the other Hoothoot. "Really? We own a hotel tree? That sounds like fun! Doesn't it, Hoot?" The first Hoot sighed. "I don't get why Master Noctowl hired you in the first place... you suffer from a really bad case of short term memory loss..." he mumbled to itself, while grabbing the other Hoot and flying off. "That was close..." Caterpie exclaimed.

yeah dittos cant really get killed by crushing- maybe squishing, but they're very moldable
