Protogon>Porygon>Porygon2>PorygonZ wouldn't that make a 4 way evolution as well, sorry I don't want to make another one of those "ryhny" posts but that topic has been locked so there is no other choice.

Alright, here's the deal. Protogon is an old beta version of Porygon whose memory banks only let it evolve up to Porygon2. If you obtain a normal Porygon then it can still evolve into PorygonZ, but Protogon's evolution line stops at Porygon2. As for Rhyny, I believe we were working on a seperate evolution for it, to differentiate it from the Rhyhorn line. While I'm at it I may as well state that Yawnlax>Munchlax>Snorlax is a perfectly acceptable evolution line.

We really should put something on the site about this, shouldn't we?

I have a question!
If you breed a Porygon, will it come out as a protogon or a porygon that can evolve into PorygonZ? What about Poryhedron, then?

@JDLJDL: If you breed a Porygon that has been programmed to evolve into Porygon-Z, then you will receive a Porygon from your egg. If you breed a Porygon that evolved from a Protogon and cannot evolve into Porygon-Z, then you will receive a Protogon from your egg.

@JDLJDL and Da1337PieLuver: Poryhedron evolved from Porygon with a mysterious Lost Prototype of the Up-Grade item. Whether or not Poryhedron ever existed as a Protogon is unknown as far as I know.

I don't seem to have anything in my memory banks about being a Protogon...then again, the memory of Protogon is an uncertain issue right now. They might not have much of anything in the way of permanent data storage, in which case no Porygon would have any memories of being a Protogon. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure Protogon weren't discovered until after I had already evolved to my present form.

Regarding my evolution, I know for a fact that I evolved while inside cyberspace by interacting with a file of unclear origin. I have since done some detective work on the matter and am reasonably sure the file came from Silph Co.'s Saffron City office. It dates back to roughly when the Porygon 2.0 project was beginning. I doubt that's coincidence, but actual connection to the project is difficult to prove as there are no records of such a file being created in Silph's database...and there should be. They keep records of stuff like that.

(Not going to do this the nice way, huh? Fine then, we do it the not-nice way.)

Inside the computer systems at the PokÃ©mon Factory HQ, an alarm started beeping. "Wha-" Poryhedron noted the alarm's source. "Aaron's lost possession of his Basic Gym team Nevermore!? How'd that happen?" Immediately Poryhedron ducked into the wireless router, and at the speed of light, transferred itself to the network servers in Anchore Lab.

Checking security camera feeds, Poryhedron spotted the "novice" trainer with what seemed to be a Snag Machine variant. "Geez, what happened to the days when ne'erdowells snuck in through back windows and stole unattended pokÃ©balls?"

Noting the exact geographical location of the altered pokÃ©ball, Poryhedron jumped from the Lab into the island's pokÃ©mon storage network and then straight into the PokÃ©ball holding Nevermore. A quick alteration of the ball's coding caused it to transfer Nevermore back into Aaron's pokÃ©mon storage account. A second alteration introduced a bizarre glitch that left the ball unable to open or recall pokÃ©mon.

Poryhedron had one more trick up its nonexistant sleeve. Scanning the changes this "Shadow Baller" had made to the pokÃ©ball, it found the wireless channel the device used to interface with pokÃ©balls. Bouncing from the pokÃ©ball to the storage network to the Lab's servers and then into a wireless signal scanner, it used the channel data to transfer itself directly into the Shadow Baller. A few fun little tweaks later, Poryhedron rode the channel back from the device to the nearest pokÃ©ball (which happened to be Vulcant's) and back to the storage network, where it sent Nevermore back into Aaron's pokÃ©ball as an afterthought.

Two seconds later, the Shadow Baller kicked into overdrive, flipping Vulcant's pokÃ©ball between Storage and Deployment sizes at a rapid rate. Nikko tried to shut the device off, but it didn't seem to be responding to any of its controls...finally the Shadow Baller's CPU overheated, there was a pop, and smoke started pouring out of the now-useless device.

Well, Protogon being a prototype of Porygon, they probably didn't make them with memory banks. So that would make sense if you didn't know yet. but how did that work? You're saying the Mystery File dated back to the time of the Porygon Project? How would you know that if you weren't created yet? You're saying they didn't keep a record of a file. So how would you be able to know when it was dated by hacking into the database if there was no record of it existing? No record, no info. Hey, does anyone think that the Mystery File might be part of the coding for 3D-ness that they lost or was scrapped when creating Porygon? And when Poryhedron came upon it as a Porygon the coding was inserted into it and transformed Poryhedron into his current self? That Poryhedron might be the original final product of Porygon? And Protogon was the prototype of Porygon, so why was it discovered almost 6 years later? Did Silph. Co keep Protogon a secret from the world and was later discovered by Poryhedron when it hacked back into the database?

I have alot of questions, and I don't know what answers I'll get back.

You're saying the Mystery File dated back to the time of the Porygon Project? How would you know that if you weren't created yet? You're saying they didn't keep a record of a file. Not the original Porygon project. The Porygon 2.0 project, when they first gave Porygon an evolved form by creating the Up-Grade item. And as for determining the date of its origin, a file's creation site isn't the only place that can have data about the file. The file traveled through multiple servers to get to where I found it. What's strange is that, following the file's trail, there's evidence it came from the Silph building's intranet, but then there's no record of it entering that intranet from somewhere else and there's no record of its creation in that intranet. It's like a hunter following footprints backward until they suddenly vanish.

That's exactly what happened, though the coding had nothing to do with being 3D...

You're forgetting Protogon's dex data. Silph never intended Porygon to have that pre-evo; they just started producing them for some reason. In fact, I kinda suspect that's why Silph either leaked the Dubious Disc to the public, or hasn't tried to stop whoever did, despite that upgrade's current flaws; as erratic as PorygonZ is, the average trainer will still prefer it to Protogon because it can actually be trained and battle in the physical world.

I meant that Porygon was originally meant to be Poryhedron, but they lost a bunch of its coding and that became the Mystery File. Since they lost it, they couldn't make a record of it, could they?

They would have made notes about the loss of that segment of the coding, at the very least. There probably would have been an investigation into how the coding was lost, maybe an attempt to re-make it...and there would have been interoffice communication about all of it.

There were definitely features they wanted to add to Porygon but couldn't get through QA before the launch deadline, but there's no indication that Porygon was ever seriously intended to be humanoid, to say nothing of my higher-order abilities that Silph would never make the mistake of mass-producing. So that theory's pretty doubtful.
