Ah well, anyways, do you really want the physical fire move on Flare all that much? If not, you could always just go with Flamethrower.

The protagonists in Ruby/Sapphire (and Gold/Silver, I recall) say "............................." when someone asks about them. It constitutes for the characters' long conversation.
A person asks the protagonist if they are from "Yes" or "No", which you can answer.

And, in Gen I, you do sort of talk. To the nurses in the Pokémon Center, to the Copycat, and some others who interview you.

It also made me very happy that Red is the highest leveled now instead of your hyperactive rival in DPPt.

I said I was replacing Flame Wheel. I think Flamethrower would be a waste of my hard earned coins seeing as it only has 5 more base power than Lava Plume, plus Flare will learn Eruption. True, Flamethrower is the better choice, but I already have a competitive Typlosion (it's shiny), and don't really care much for this one. I think I'm just gonna set it up with Focus Blast. The Kimono Girl dance summoning was pretty epic.

Agh, I hate how high level Yanmega has to be for its two best moves - Air Slash and Bug Buzz...

Also, on the subject of the manga - I think ZF is right. Red had most of those pokemon far before GSC was released - he has every one of them except for Eevee before the third gym, and get's Eevee two gyms later. So I think the GSC team was built around the Manga Red.

I didn't know that about Red, but it has changed now so that it's more like the anime, which more people will recognize. Never read the manga series and I don't have time to now.

With the Typhlosion I trained in SoulSilver I taught him Flamethrower which I like better than Lava Plume, especially during Double Battles.

I've had HeartGold for about two weeks now, and am currently in the process of grinding to fight Red. Not very fun at all, especially when I challenged myself to only use Pokemon between the National Dex numbers of 152 to 251. That means no evolving Piloswine or Misdreavus, and no Kanto Pokemon to help me in the slightest.

My current party:

Flarez (Typhlosion) Level 60
Ventia (Jumpluff) Level 58
Aeon (Noctowl) Level 59
Lumis (Lanturn) Level 57
Tundrow (Piloswine) Level 58
Cantasma (Misdreavus) Level 55

The game is amazing, though. Better than Platinum by far, and easily the best Pokemon game ever, since it IS a remake of Gold and Silver, after all. I feel like I'm seven again when I play this game, but feel all grown up knowing that I know exactly what I'm doing. It's a great sensation when your favorite game gets one-upped.

I can play competitive or casual battles, in any tier, and I'm always ready to fight. Just message me.

I think Nintendo Power would agree with you. I only know their ratings of the gen 4 games, but I'm pretty sure D/P got 7.5 or 8, Pt got 9, and HG/SS got a 9.5. As for spin-off games, Ranger got a measly 6, Ranger: SoA got an 8 I think, Battle Revolution got 7, MD: R/B got like 7 as well, and MD: T/D got 8. I think Sky got 8.5 if I'm not mistaken, but as you can see HG/SS is living large. They also hate Ranger.

Smooshed Kimono Girls, evolved my Poliwhirl to Poliwrath. Why can't Poliwrath learn Drain Punch? I was counting on that to be his fighting move and now it says he's not compatible... guess I'm bringing a Brick Break over from Pt.

You need a Ground type move/Pokemon, JDL. If LightMan was level 60 it could punch out everyone on that team besides Kingdra & Lanturn. Just bring Red Snake (Ice Fang on Kingdra to help LightMan), Stonehenge (Lanturn), and some healing items up to him and you're toast.

Flarsy, none of these teams would work competitively at all, and shouldn't be taken as if they would. In the competitive world, having one ground type would not save the team. People are using teams they like, and if balance factors in, that's fine. But I know I'm not gonna win with my team competitively, and I don't care. Also, healing items aren't allowed in trainer battles...

While we're talking about teams, why doesn't Typhoon have Lava Plume?

It does. I recited that form memory, and forgot Lava Plume. Hypnosis was actually level 32.
