Red has the highest level pokemon of any trainer in any game. This was the case in the original when it first came out and is the case again, which makes me happy for some reason. It's interesting to note that his Pikachu knows the same moves as the Ash's Pikachu in the anime and that Ash has owned at least one of the Pokemon in the same line as Red's Pokemon. Namely, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Snorlax, Lapras, and Pikachu. So it's safe to call Red the uber-Ash.
