They made it to the center of town with only a few mishaps and swiftly sold the majority of the berries to eager new adventurists on their way to Decorus Woods. Suisaru then went over to the Poke-mart to sell the rest of her mother’s Cheri Berries. After separating her Mother’s earnings and placing them in the backpack with the now empty bags, Suisaru purchased herself a map of Bombur, 10 Pokéballs, and received her bonus Premier Pokéball for the bulk purchase of Pokéballs. Suisaru didn’t really know what she was going to do with the Pokéballs, since she didn’t want to force any Pokémon to leave their home and family to be with her. As she picked up her last few bags of berries and exited the Pokémart Suisaru stopped short with a cry of surprise. Eevee, who had been following close behind to avoid getting stepped on in the crowd, had to do some fancy maneuvering to avoid colliding into her fried. Just as he was about to scold Suisaru for her behavior, Suisaru looked down and asked, “Where is your Pokéball? I don’t remember where we put it… I suppose we should find it before we attempt this supposed grand adventure…” Suisaru’s voice trailed off as she headed off to the Pokécenter and its All-Trainer’s access to its computer room.
Her father had opened her an official account a few weeks before she had finished trainer’s school and her honorary membership ended (since most students didn’t have their own Pokémon during school they were only given an honorary membership so that they would know how to use the computers in anticipation that they would obtain a Pokémon and become a trainer and opened their real account) despite ‘owning’ a Pokémon herself already. Once there Suisaru intended to store her remaining berries in the computer so that they would be available in other Pokécenters across Bombur. She knew she did NOT want to lug them all across Bombur nor purchase any from unknown sources in unknown condition. Suisaru worked best with her berries and internally shuddered at the thought of using berries someone else grew, despite her mother’s instance that their own berries were in no wise superior to other’s berries.
As Suisaru worked at the Pokécenter, she was reminded of how very impressed she was at how well the Pokécenter had managed to streamline the many services they offered while remaining careful, efficient, and sociable. Eevee pounced on one of Suisaru’s feet, then to the other and then back to the first over and over as she fought the boredom of waiting for Suisaru to carefully mark the amounts of each berry to be added to the computer. Suisaru’s feet suddenly moved out from under the impatient Pokémon as Suisaru took her bags over to a kind attendant who would do the more monotonous job of adding each individual berry to the computer. Then to Eevee’s annoyance, Suisaru went back to the computer’s desk and sat down again. To again pass the time, Eevee resumed her pouncing, this time attempting to spin around before landing. To pass the time, Suisaru idly checked her account to see if there had been any changes in the past couple of days.
“Wha…?” Suisaru muttered as she noticed that there had actually been some activity on her account, right after she had won her gym badge. “Eevee look at this! The Pokémon Factory has put a Pokémon in here! Apparently I told them they could… I wonder which Pokémon it is!?” Suisaru and Eevee were now alight with excitement and curiosity as she checked the Pokémon out of the computer and all but ran to the machine that would dispense their Pokéball. Suisaru swiped her I.D. card and down rolled a shiny Pokéball into the till. With shaking fingers Suisaru picked up the Pokéball and held it up to her face in amazement. Suisaru and Eevee barely noticed as the attendant approached them and handed the receipt to Eevee (since Suisaru’s hands were occupied) and said that the totals were correct. The attendant left after wishing the pair a good day and headed back to her counter shaking her head and smiling over the excitability of young ones. As soon as she was gone Suisaru and Eevee rushed off to the park where they could safely open the Pokéball and discover which Pokémon was inside.

Suisaru prudently chose a clear, open, grassy area with few other people and Pokémon, since she had no recollection of what Pokémon it would be. After setting down her backpack, she turned to Eevee and said, “Ready? Since the Pokémon Factory sent this Pokémon, that must mean it has just hatched out of its egg, this may be the first time it has been outside! You better be ready to calm it down if it gets scared okay?” Seeing that Eevee was more than ready and was literally jumping up and down with excitement, Suisaru smiled, turned to face the open area, stretched her arm out, and poked the button on the face of the Pokéball. Out poured a flash of brilliant light making Suisaru close her eyes. When she opened them again, she looked around bewilderedly until noticed Eevee staring at a small Pokémon at her feet, looking the long way up to Suisaru’s face.
“Aha! I remember now!” Suisaru cried out. After kneeling down in front of the Pokémon, who was still staring at her face, she continued while smiling, “You are a Nutreed aren’t you?” The yellow Pokémon, still staring, nodded slowly and then smiled back up at the girl. “Wow, you are an entranced little fellow… do you mind if I look you up on my Pokédex?” She pulled out the device and read:
“Nutreed, you are a small, round, yellow Pokémon. You are approximately on foot high and weigh about two pounds.” She broke off and looked at the Pokémon who was now staring at Eevee as the fuzzy Pokémon was curiously sniffing around it.
“Well, that looks accurate enough.” Suisaru commented with a grin. She then continued, “You evolve into Vipromme at level 14 and Ourobotine at level 36. You are currently a level three grass type and you, my new friend, are male. You know Life Pulse, which is your current attack, and Defense Curl, which is your defensive move. Your special ability is Overgrow, hmmmm… interesting, very interesting. You, little guy, are a very interesting Pokémon. I have a feeling that I am going to love you to death!”
At this last sentence the Nutreed gave Suisaru a rather frightened look and began to curl in on itself. “Oh! Oh, dear!” Suisaru said in surprise, “It’s just a saying, I won’t hurt you! The saying means that I will love you until we die at a good old age, many years from now.” Slowly, the round blob peered up at her and presently a bright, happy light shone in its eye. “Yes, we will be good friends. That fuzzy thing behind you is Eevee; she is also a dear friend of mine. I am Suisaru; I am very pleased to meet you.”
After peering at the Plant Pokémon who was now making tentatife noises at Eevee, Suisaru suddenly asked,”Ummm, how do you, ummm, move?” He turned and stared at her again, this time in surprise, then he slowly seemed to gather himself up and then bounded in a slow circle around the delighted girl. “Is that difficult?” The Nutreed smiled a little and shrugged. “Hmmm… may I pick you up?” He smiled again and seemed to stretch upward toward her, so she carefully picked him up and sat him on her lap.

About an hour past noon, as the new Pokémon was demonstrating how he could roll himself around, (much like a plastic bag, filled with water, with an energetic Magikarp in it would,) a loud crack of thunder startled the party. After a pause of shock the young Pokémon made a gigantic leap, for on of his size, onto Suisaru’s lap and hid quivering.
“First encounter with thunder huh?” Suisaru murmured to the quivering Pokémon. As she tried to console the poor thing, Eevee was busy getting Suisaru’s bag open. Finally, with a cry of triumph she succeeded and hurried to pull out Suisaru’s cloak and get the girl’s attention.
“Wah? Oh! Good thinking Eevee.” Suisaru quickly threw the cloak around her and smiled as Eevee settled herself on her bag safely under the cloak before she could get wet.
While most of the other park’s visitors were swiftly scattering away, Suisaru slowly stood up and walked to the edge of the park’s small grove of trees. After settling down under the tree’s sheltering canopy, she sat watching the rain thoughtfully.
“You know…” Suisaru said slowly, still looking out at the rain, “You, being a plant Pokémon, you would probably like the rain. Thunder and lightning not so much, but the falling water, yes, I bet you would like that.” A few calm moments later, Suisaru heard some small noises coming from the tent she had made out of the arms, legs, and cloak, then her Nutreed suddenly bounced out from under cover into the rain and froze. Slowly it began to shiver then with almost an inner explosion, it started rolling and bouncing around on the wet grass in the rain singing out happily. It was quite a while before they left the park.
