As the Ledyba shot towards Eevee, the little Pokémon swiftly ducked down and slipped underneath the larger Pokémon. In that same instant, Eevee heard Suisaru's response. Tackle! Nice timing Suisaru! And that was all the time Eevee had for thought before she launched herself quite haphazardly straight up at the Ledyba's belly.

Hello. I am Suisaru's Dad. I started a Pokémon transportation service about two years before I met Susiaru's mother. About one year after we were married Suisaru came along. I am often in the forest on our property training my bird Pokémon in the art of safe transportation. Well, more accurately I train them to be able to fight independently when they need to, but otherwise to fly fast away to their destination. These birds need to be dedicated, fast, strong, and able to take a hit. Sadly, some Pokémon would meet these requirements perfectly, however, those that they transport are frightened of them. Therefore, another requirement is that they are appealing to the customers. I help them cultivate all of these traits. I often go over to the Gym in Anchorage Town (we live on the outskirts by the forest) to train my Pokémon in more advanced techniques. Consequently, I know the Professor and his aide rather well. Despite my job being in the traveling business, I am most often at home training my newest Pokémon. I have always had a fascination with Bird Pokémon and I tend to catch and train new Bird Pokémon as soon as my current Bird Pokémon is ready to work in my business. During my training, I always have my shiny Pidgey with me to demonstrate moves and techniques. This Pokémon, nicknamed Bob, is my special Pokémon that I caught on my own Pokémon adventure and I always tend to have him with me. I am excited for Suisaru to go adventuring off with her Eevee, her mother is worried, but mothers always worry. I know that Suisaru is resourceful and can handle herself. Additionally, if she ever is in a particularly nasty bind, I have stations all over Bombur with strong trainers working there; she can always find help... if she would actually ask... Suisaru will do well on her adventure and I am excited to send her off. Because of this, I became worried when she was not home soon after her first Gym Battle...
I decided to check her shed before I set off to Achorage town. Her shed was unique; she had furnished it and organized it all on her own. It makes me proud to see how efficiently organized it is. Even if it is a bit shabby, it seems to suit her... she never was as flamboyant as her mother. I don't know where she got the chair and coat stand, but the personality in them was obviously, why Suisaru obtained them.
As soon as I knocked on the door, I knew Suisaru was there, I could hear Eevee calling softly, and where Eevee was Suisaru was close by. I quietly opened the door and found my daughter curled up asleep with her friend in the middle of the day. Her Gym battle must have been tough on her for her to be asleep when she could be out with her plants. I was about to leave when I saw her hand, it had obviously been injured and just as obviously forgotten. Sighing I mummered, "Suisaru, that is just like you. To forget that you are injured because you are busy healing a Pokémon. I wonder if you even noticed that it bit you when you were tending to it." Then chuckling I added, "You are one special girl." I then proceeded to clean her hand and put some of the antibacterial cream on it that her mother made her carry in her bag. "I wonder if you even know how to heal yourself? It would be just the sort of thing you wouldn't pay attention to in school."
I left her shed chuckling softly to myself and hoped that she would wake up soon and tell her mother and me about her adventure. After advising her mother as to her whereabouts, I headed off into the Forest to train my newly caught Murkrow; having never trained a Murkrow before, I was anxious to be off.
I came home late from trying to get the Murkrow to like me... being a flock bird, I suppose it will just need time to adjust to being around a small group of humans. I had decided that it might be more comfortable with Suisaru, her mother, and Eevee around, and so I decided to leave the Pokémon out of its Pokéball whenever I was at home with my family. After eating a cold dinner of leftovers, I left the Murrow with my other Bird Pokémon in the tower built especially for my birds, which is located behind Suisaru's and her mother's greenhouse, and went to chat with my wife before going to bed. To my distress, her mother reported that Suisaru had not mentioned her first Gym Battle besides saying that Eevee was marvelous and won her the badge. Additionally, Suisaru had been acting distant and stressed and Eevee was worried about it. I asked if Suisaru had been out in the garden any, and she had. That got me worried; usually working in her garden or out in the forest would settle any of Suisaru's problems. Well, she probably needed her rest, more than she needed me to check up on her this late at night. I'll just have to catch her tomorrow morning before I head off to work.
The next morning as I was making breakfast my wife commented that Suisaru had been in the shower an abnormally long time when we heard Suisaru shout followed by swiftly pounding feet. To our surprise, Eevee came streaking into the kitchen and out the back door. A moment later, a very sodden Suisaru clothed only in a hastily wrapped towel dashed into the room looking happily furious. However, as soon as her mother made a sound Suisaru seemed to realize that she was standing in the middle of the kitchen, dripping all over the floor. Her face suddenly flamed and she dashed out of the room faster than she had entered it. When we next saw her, she was dressed and composed. It took a little effort to get her to explain what the earlier antics were for. Apparently, she had been daydreaming in the shower and Eevee had decided that it would be hilarious to turn the water cold on her and see how long it would take Suisaru to wake up. This explained why Suisaru looked so happy to be furious with her friend, and why she was so wet. However, the effort it took to get her to explain about an event that had such an embarrassing ending took enough time for her to eat and be out the door before I had remembered to ask her about her Gym Battle and her plans for adventuring. As I left, I saw Suisaru and her Eevee happily playing in the warm, sun lit garden. It was such a nicer day than yesterday had been. Maybe it was just the weather that had gotten to Suisaru... although that was rather out of character for my daughter who normally loved being out in wet weather. In any case, I had to go monitor a new station on the other side of Bombur and if I were to get there in time, I would have to leave now. However, I only left after calling out to Suisaru to promise not to go off adventuring before I got back in a week. After hearing her promise, my thoughts were all centered on how to get my new Murkrow to adjust to humans.

Oh dear, Suisaru thought, I had forgotten all about adventuring. I used to be excited to go see all of Bombur, discover new plants, and meet new Pokémon friends. Now what, if I freeze up again... will Eevee be able to protect me again? I have heard that there are Ledyba in the Decorus Forest... there aren't any in our part of the forest; I know that for sure... but they could be in the less-cultured part of the forest. If I could get past the forest, I might not meet any Ledyba at all! But first, I have to survive the forest. I don't know if I can do that... not anymore. Suddenly a large, juicy, berry splatted against the side of Suisaru's face bringing her stickily out of her thoughts. "Ooops..." Suisaru said to the culprit berry flinger. "I was doing it again huh? Eevee, what would I do without you? And what are you going to do when you run out of pranks like turning the water cold and flinging squishy, sticky, berries at me to stop me from worrying myself sick? At least this time it was just worrying, not drifting off into that odd grey nonexistence like in the shower and yesterday." Suisaru sighed and used some weeds that she had plucked to wipe off the berry juice from her face. "How am I going to go adventuring, like my dad wants me to, if I can't get a grip?" Eevee looked at her solemnly for a moment and then slowly crouched down, and suddenly looked the picture of mischievousness as she pounced on her friend. After mock battling with each other for about an hour, Suisaru conceded and lay down under the trees that began the forest part of their property. "You're absolutely right Eevee, A) I'm a weak little human and should always bow to your prowess, and B) I shouldn't worry about adventuring now, because I can't even start planning before Dad comes home!" With that, Suisaru hopped to her feet and proceeded to check on the forest growing plants. There were some in the forest that were part of her garden; the ones that needed lots of shade, or grew next to rivers, or only next to certain trees... this was Suisaru's part of the forest and no Ledyba dared enter there.

Suisaru looked up slowly as she finished her sentence and tried to peer out of the window with out upsetting Eevee. Realizing that she was doomed to fail she sighed and wondered if it was worth waking up Eevee to talk to whomever it was. "I don't like acting social!" Suisaru grumbled to herself. The knock sounded again and Suisaru sighed again. Just as she started to get up her mother walked in and answered the door.
"Oh! Hello dear! How may I help you?" Suisaru's mom greeted the door knocker.

Good going Mom. Even I could have been more tactful than that! Suisaru remembered Kira from trainer school. She had been surprised at how good she was for a rich girl. Kira would make a good trainer some day.
Deciding that it would be better to try to act social than wait silently for her mom, Suisaru sat up and motioned to the seat she had just vacated saying, "I'm well, why don't you have a seat? Mom isn't as good with the birds as Dad is, it will be a few minutes. Have you taken the last test yet? Or were you going to take it in Kanto somehow?"

Suisaru watched the Pidgey fly out of sight with her thoughtful gray eyes. Well, she thought, this is interesting. There goes someone who would be a good friend to talk to an old friend about making a potential friend with someone who is dubious about making new friends, particularly a friend that is human and would be intending to go on an adventure together. Friends, hmmmm... well now, what page was I on? Suisaru's thoughts about friends and adventures were forgotten, she slipped back through the front door, and murmuring something like “She was very nice,” to her mother before positioning herself back under her fuzzy Pokémon and opening her book.
Suisaru had finally gone to sleep late in the night but her dreams were filled with all the potential horrors of adventuring. In her nightmares she could barely remember how to play her flute to guide her poor Eevee through battle or she had misplaced her flute entirely and had to attempt to whistle through her fear dried lips. All the Pokémon hated her, none letting her close enough to heal their wounds that were inevitable gained from their day to day battles amongst themselves. Eevee got lost or Suisaru ran out of equipment just when Eevee took serious damage. Anything that could have gone wrong in her dream-land adventuring seemed to go wrong. The only thing that never went wrong was that Eevee was always trying her best to take care of her human, and Suisaru was very aware of this throughout the night.
Finally the sound of her father's birds welcoming the first greys of dawn, awakened her, Suisaru rolled over, buried her face in her friend’s fur, and thanked her for taking such good care of her. Eevee, still being half awake and half in her own happy dreams of playing in the garden, was rather confused by this gratitude and so merely stuck her nose in Suisaru’s ear and promptly fell back to sleep.
Suisaru sat upright rather quickly, rubbing her now much colder ear, and decided against trying to get some useful rest and got ready for the day thinking that maybe it would turn out to be a murky day so that she could wander around town in her cloak and nurse her sleep-deprived day in peaceful solitude. However, the day dawned bright with clear sunshine and wet cool sea air, much to her disappointment. After moping her way through breakfast, Suisaru’s mother banned her from the house and gardens on the premise that if she were to go out and interact with some people, and do something different, she would perk up and have a better day.
“That’s exactly what I don’t need Mother.” Suisaru muttered as she headed toward her shed to prepare for her banishment. Once there she decided that she could run some pre-adventure errands in town. It would doubly appease her mother that she was out-and-about and getting ready for her adventure. As she packed up copious quantities of berries, she realized that her Dad would be home any day now. “It has been four days since he left…” Suisaru mused to herself ads she packed her last berry. After stuffing her cloak into her bag, just in case the weather took a more favorable turn and rained as it randomly did in the seaside town, she headed back to her mother to tell her her plans for the day and to ask if she had any errands Suisaru could run for her. Her mother rejoiced after hearing Suisaru’s plans and asked Suisaru if she would sell her store of Cheri Berries now that the new batch was almost ready.
“Sure Mom. That’ll be fine.” Suisaru responded and left to pack those Berries as well.
“Fine I said, humph!” muttered Suisaru as she looked at the gigantic pile of packaged berries in front of her, “Just fine I suppose, assuming I can carry them all!” Eevee sat watching with amusement as Suisaru put on a full to bursting backpack, hung several bags off each shoulder in addition to her personal bag, and proceeded to grab several, smaller bags in each hand. After watching her companion struggle toward the front gate, Eevee hopped down from her perch and placed her strong little body underneath the bags in Suisaru’s right hand and stood up, carrying the weight. “Woah!” Suisaru cried out as she was swiftly unbalanced. Looking down Suisaru smiled and said, “Thank you!” gratefully and rearranged the bags to their mutual comfort.
