Nevermore, already intimidated, cringed farther away from Lupup at the new Growl. It squawked when the puppy delivered an onslaught of Scratches, then took to the air to avoid the unsettling opponent.

Aaron, seeing his pokemon was not going to go near Lupup if it would help it, called, "You're doing fine Nevermore. Growl now."

Nevermore, perfectly happy to stay where it was, growled particularly loudly at Lupup.

Lupup looked up at the sky, cringing at the loud noise bellowing from Nevermore's beak.

"Don't be afraid! It's the one who should cower," shouted Romulus, hoping to bolster his poke'mon's courage. Lupup, somewhat hesitantly, waited for her new command.

"Scratch it, and next it makes it's move, Growl it until it stops!" Romulus commanded, thinking ahead to the next Peck attack.

(OOC: Lupup doesn't know Tackle. :P )

Nevermore was too high in the air for Lupup to attack, no matter how much it might jump up. The bird was cheered by this and cawed tauntingly at the pup.

"Now, another Peck, Nevermore," Aaron said.

His pokemon was feeling more confident now and dove down to attack, but the loud Growl that Lupup instantly produced made it flinch.

"Lupup, while its flinching! Scratch!" Romulus called, knowing Nevermore had to be attacked before it regained its confidence and flew to high.

Lupup's paw swiftly lashed out and struck Nevermore, causing the bird to be knocked back before falling limp. Aaron quickly returned his fainted pokemon. Then he pulled out a second pokeball. He looked at it briefly as he considered it, then looked back up at Romulus. "I may as well give up right now," he said, and tossed the pokeball out. His next pokemon appeared, a cheerful-looking ladybug pokemon. "My Lediba only knows one offensive attack, Tackle, so trying to continue the battle would be fruitless. I admit defeat." He returned his pokemon, then walked towards Romulus with a badge in his outstretched palm. "Congratulations! This Gym badge is yours!"

Romulus has recieved the Panorama Badge!

Aaron also handed the new trainer a device that looked like a fancy red cell phone. "And you also get a pokedex, which is a very useful tool; it allows you to find a variety of information about pokemon, can be used as a portable phone, and has a number of other functions." He paused for a moment, then concerned for the boy prompted him to add, "If you ever need help, feel free to call me. The number for Anchore Lab is preprogramed into your pokedex's phone, so you can contact me by that. Good luck on your journey." He finished with a friendly smile.

Romulus took the pokedex and muttered, "Thanks." He hesitated, as if to say more, but then left the gym arena. In the lab, Romulus looked around quickly. There, he thought as he ran at a recycling bin. He grabbed a couple of papers, checked to see if there backs were blank, stapled them together, and walked out the door.

Should I have? He gave me a pokedex, and I steal from him? He's the first person whose helped me at all. Romulus was still thinking about his actions at the Gym as he walked to the outskirts of Anchore. Then again, it was his trash. Besides, since when did I care about moral ethnics or whatever it's called? I have more use for it then him, anyway. Still doubtful about whether what he did was right, he waslked out to Route A

"I guess we're setting up camp, Lupup," he said a while later. "Lu Lu Lupup!" Responded his poke'mon, who had been following him since he'd left the gym. Finding a sturdy tree trunk, he grabbed branches and leaned them against the trunk, creating a sort of T-P skeleton. He then took his coat and spread it over the branches, making a small shelter. Out of habit, he pulled out his Silph Scope, scanning for ghosts.. Though he thought he saw a small glare around the area of Anchore*, he saw no concreate proof ghosts were around. Using his backpack as a pillow, he fell asleep, Lupup culred on top of him, keeping them both warm.

((OOC: * Taz's Ninetales. I don't know were they would be around this time, but they should be around Anchore (right?) ))

A cold breeze cut through the air like knifes, and Romulus shivered in his sleep. "Mmm. . . . " he said, imagining the fragrance coming from his dream.

'Wake up, dear,' Mother said gently, nudging Romulus awake. 'Me and your father will be gone for most of the day; we're helping some friends drill through Rock Tunnel.' 'You've talked about it for ages, I know you're leaving,' Romulus replied, starting to get out of bed. 'Just making sure you remembered is all,' Mother replied as she left his room and headed to the kitchen. 'I've time to make a quick breakfast for you, but then I have to go,' she said, loud enough to reach Romulus as he jogged down the hallway. ' 'kay,' he replied, 'But I could've made it myself, I'm already seven.' Mother looked up as she dripped pancake mix into the pan, and said, 'So? I can make you breakfast when I want to.'

". . . . These are . . . great . . . " Romulus muttered, and shifted in his sleep, waking up Lupup. "Pup!" Lupup screamed, instinctively thinking she was being attacked, waking Romulus from his slumber. "Nightmare. Sorry, Lupup," he said, calming the cub poke'mon. "Let's keep moving."

Romulus was getting bored. "Another Nevermore. Scratch it, Lupup." Lupup obeyed, and scratched the weak poke'mon, who was knocked out on the second Scratch. Romulus sighed. "This is great for training, but I want to catch a poke'mon, and not a pathetic bird like those." Behind him, the Route was filled with injured Nevermore trying to flee from him, cawing. 'Let's keep going." Sighing once more, Romulus kept moving, and he could now see a forest in the distance. "Maybe we could catch some half-decent poke'mon there," he called, sprinting to his new target.

He didn't get far when a "Lu" was shouted, somewhere behind him. Come on Lupup, you're tired already? he thought, turning. WHA? behind him, two Lupup were looking at him, questioningly. Oh, great, a wild one, he thought, but then: Um . . . What about Lupup's dex? Pulling out his poke'dex, he checked Lupup's dex description.

"Never seen in wild. . . ." looking at the two Lupups, trying to figure out who was wild and how he was seeing it, he noticed one of them was silent. Intrigued, he went over to the Lupup queitly, and struck it with his hand. "Ditto!" it cried as it flew back in the air and changed into a geleton-like form. A Ditto. This is a half-decent pokemon.

Romulus ran into wild Ditto!

"Scratch it as it transforms!" Lupup obeyed, striking Ditto as it tried to regain its Cub form. "Ditto!" it sid, losing concentration. "Again!" However, by the time Lupup Scratched Ditto, it had already transformed, and the attack did nothing. Ditto Scratched back, but it was once more a useless attack. This is harder than I thought. Romulus said to himself. I can't attack it, and it can't attack me. Unless . . . "Lupup! Use Scratch to climb that tree!" he shouted, pointing Lupup to the intended target, sn Iapapa tree. The swift cub did Romulus's bidding, and was soon on top of one of the tree's branches. Let's hope this works. "Throw an Iapapa berry at Ditto!" Romulus cried. At the same time, he grabbed a stick, ran forward, and poked the Ditto, so confused he didn't dodge Romulus's attack. Romulus poked Ditto seconds to spare: it opened it's mouth as if to scream in pain as the Berry fell into the mouth, which was open like a crude O. As he watched, the Ditto spun around, dizzy, then threw it's weight at a nearby tree, harming it greatly. "Pokeball!" Romulus screamed, watching as the ball moved from side to side. Dinc. . . Dinc. . . Dinc!

Ditto was his.

((OOC: First off, yes, this is heavily edited. Second, an Iapapa Berry Confuses a poke'mon who doesn't like sour taste, but heals 1/8 of the poke'mon's HP.))

Romulus sighed as he looked around. He had long left Route A without anymore trouble, and now, just entering Decorus, he realized just how big the forest was. And cold, he realized as a swift, cutting breeze chilled him. "Gotta set up camp." He looked over his shoulder at Lupup, who was shivering despite her fur coat. Finding a trunk and some sticks, he recreated his previous shelter, but, noticing it was going to rain soon by looking at the sky, he realized his jacket wouldn't be enough to keep the lean-to / TP dry. Great.

"Hoppip!" Alright. One more time should be enough, Romulus thought, and ran in front of the wild Pokemon, waving. "Hoppip!" it cried, Bouncing toward the area the lean-to was, away from Romulus. "Lu!" Lupup growled, jumping in the way of Hoppip's retreat. "Hop!" Hoppip screamed, and a seed formed in the center of its two leaves. Yes! Lupup dodged out of the way, and the Leech Seed attached itself to the lean-to, connecting the branches to the tree even tighter than before and sheltering most of the area not already covered in Seeds from two other Hoppips who Romulus had used to better the shelter. "Scratch!" Romulus screamed, and Hoppip didn't have a chance against Lupup's predatory claws. Once Knocked Out, Romulus moved the poke'mon's body into a mass of shrubbery nearby, which covered the other two victims also. "Perfect," Romulus said, looking at the shelter. Covering the few remaining holes with his jacket, he looked up, seeing stars start to peep out, and new it was nighttime. He then walked into an opening at the left side which was barely touched by the seeds, and slept. He'd entered the shelter just in time: moments after going into the lean-to, it started to rain.

((OOC: I don't think anything's wrong! Sweet! It took me a few edits, but still. . . . ))

((Edit OOC: Exept for what Squirrelay found, but I was hoping he wouldn't do research to prove me wrnong. ))

((I'll let this slide this one time, but Pokemon in the Decorus Woods are at a maximum level seven, otherwise stronger pokemon would be considered rare. Hoppip learns Leech Seed at level 22, so encountering one would be definitely slim, and your Lupup would probably not be up to the challenge. So that you don't have to change anything. We will say that this Hoppip was bred from a male and female Jumpluff that both knew Leech Seed.))

"Ditto! Transform!" Romulus called, watching the battle before him. Ditto did as it was told, and instantly its flexible pink body changed. It's color drained to a dull white, then slowly began being covered by small feathers, most a bland shade of blue, some red. Its head extended, its mouth took on the shape of a yellow beak, and Ditto raised its new wings and soared into the air to fight its opponent. Romulus watched it, only able to see Ditto's white underbelly as it soared into he air. "Peck it!" Romulus called, hoping Ditto could hear him. Ditto obliged, but missed its target, who had more practice at fighting in the air. Frustrated, Romulus called up, "Ditto, Growl! Then Peck!" Once more, Ditto did Romulus's bidding. The bird poke'mon may have been fast, but it couldn't avoid sound. It recoiled. As it flinched, Ditto came in and Pecked the target, and finally, the Taillow fell to the ground, unconscience

"Good job, Ditto!"

Romulus smiled. He was happy his Ditto was getting the training it needed, but now, near noon, he had to think about his problem.

He didn't have a clue where he was.

He sat down on the ground and looked at his surroundings. Trees surrounded him - obviously. He was in a glade bordered by the tall maples. The glade was covered with nothing but grass, a bit of shrubbery, and the Taillow, now slumped on the grass unconscious. Lupup ran over to Romulus, who absent-mindidly pet her as he thought of his dilemma. I'm lost, he thought. Nothing more to it. He sighed heavily. He grabbed his backback and pulled out his makeshift Journal - the slab of papers sloppily stapled together with My Journal written over it in an illegible scrawl. Opening it, he wrote about his past few days, doodling in the blank space. Not a great drawer, the pictures turned out pretty badly, but he didn't care. Eventually he got bored just doodling in the margin, and he put it away, grabbed his backpack, stood up, and started to head out the way he guessed led to the exit.

WHOOSH! A hooded man fell from a tree above the boy's head, his hooded cloak swirled around him, like the wings of a bat. He stood up and was revealed to have a brilliant amount of spiky red hair and crimson eyes, burning like the sun. His once tanned skin, now looked pale and his face - gaunt with malnourish. He stood boldly before Romulus and smiled.

"Hello there child. I am but a stranger to you, however, I would very much like to ask a pokemon battle of you." The boy took note of the katana sticking from the man's belt.

The two stood facing one another, solemnly. Like warriors to duel to the death. Thieth then announced the rules.

"We get two pokemon each, a double battle. If either of your pokemon faints, you lose. You cannot switch or use items. Excuse a moment," The hooded man turned and tossed a pokeball, ensnaring a nearby Nidoran (M).

"There, we have our two. Shall we begin?" He tossed up two orbs and out shot:

RAN! RAN! NIDORAN!!!
