Just as the two trainers were meeting up, the door of the small cabin opened up. Out of it stepped Huck, with Florabloom on his shoulder.
The woodworker approached Romulus and Anthony. "Hiya, kiddo! I see you finally decided to call for help! Now that's what I call an improvement. Instead of resorting to evil schemes, you are willing to cooperate! That's what a true trainer does," Huck said while slapping on Romulus' shoulder.
He then turned to Anthony. "So, what's your name, kiddo? You sure look like the type to help others out. My compliments!"

Romulus wasn't sure what to think of all this. He was wondering how Florabloom had ended up in that cabin with the woodworker.
Huck noticed Romulus' less than enthusiastic, but rather questioning look. "Yes, kiddo, I called Florabloom back from distracting the Murkrow. You were chasing the Murkrow to get back your belongings, but what you instead tried to do, was stealing everything in their possession and ambushing their leader by dirty tactics. Sure, the Murkrow are petty thieves, but shouldn't we know better than them? We shouldn't resort to the same tactics," Huck said. "That is why I returned Florabloom to her pokéball, to show you that stealing or dirty tactics do not always guarantee you a victory. A fair fight, and believing in the strength of your pokémon, that is what matters, and that is what I, one of Bombur's HM keepers, stand for," the woodworker said, while having a firm look in his eyes.

"Now, you two go, and make sure your Ditto wins his fight. I heared from Florabloom that it is fighting fair all by itself, and it is doing a good job at it."

Romulus glared unhappily at Huck, unimpressed by the HM Keeper's startling reappearance. He was going to say something back when he saw the new trainer, and realized the implications. He had help now, and if Ditto was fighting, hope couldn't be all lost. For once, he couldn't care less about Huck's treachery. "Fine, then. I've heard about an HM Keeper here, from Idaho's classes. So you've got Cut, eh? Good. Give it here." He held out his hand expectingly, knowing Huck couldn't expect anything but hostility at this point. Turning to the new trainer, he explained his situation to the boy, adding, in the end, "My name's Romulus, by the way. Yours?"

"Ah... Anthony. Anthony Devries." Anthony gestured to his pokemon. "These are Crys and Sargon. They're ready to help too! So... Murkrow, eh? And... I heard there was a Murraven in this forest. Ok! Let's go. Two on thirty? Should be easy! Ah!" Anthony turned to Huck. "Umm.. Nice to meet you sir! I had heard of the HM keeper who lived down in Askorun Town, and had heard you had to brave a challenge for the HM, sir! I will help this boy and return, sir! Thank you for the compliment sir!" Anthony said the words with careful presicion.

((OOC: Oh yeah, Squirrelay approved all our Murraven ideas. =D)

((I'm aware of the Murkrow ideas, and your requested trade, EP ^^ Catching the Murraven, however, should not be easy. So, if Murraven is going to face more trainers and pokémon, then it will have access to more than the four moves it uses currently. I will give it some Egg Moves for that purpose. Just a heads-up ^-^))

Huck had glanced coldly at Romulus' hand and had not given him any HM. He turned to Anthony. "That sounds great, kiddo. I'll be following to see how you two are doing. If you manage to put up a good fight and work together, then I'll give you my HM," the woodworker said. "Go now, and help out your special Ditto, Romulus. The HM will come afterwards," Huck said.

((OOC: Fair enough, ShinE. But let's pick up the pace, eh? I've been in these woods waaaaayyyyyy to long, and Decku's practically begging for equal competition.))

"Special, eh?" Romulus asked, by now completely irked. He closed his hand slowly, pushing back the urge to harm the woodcutter after a bit of thought. Maybe after the TM, he thought. But for now, Dits was in trouble. "Fine, then," he said with a tone of finality, glaring at Huck. "If your bird knows were Ditto is, it can take us to him, right? Right?" Then, in a squeeky mimic of Anthony's voice, he added, "Sir?" He shouldn't be attacking his new partner trainer, but he wasn't in the mood to be friendly right now, and his mouth dripped with sarcasm like venom as he finished.

((OOC: And yes, Ditto's genderless and Florabloom's not, but Romulus likes Ditto and "it" sounds unfriendly. Also, I think you've had two posts to reply, so . . . ))

DItto hit the Murraven, but not hard; its reflexes were better than it'd expected. Quickly, though, it flew out of range and started its own Night Shade.

There was a snap alarmingly close to Romulus's ear as Anthony whipped his scarf. "Hey, Romulus. No need to get all nasty." Anthony's eyes turned icy. "They way I see it, you need help. I don't have to help you at all. It's just your Ditto that needs saving, and I'm not gonna give up on your pokemon because you're too much of a pompous jerk to ask for assistance." Anthony was now leaning in dangerously close to Romulus, his breath misting the air between them. "Got it... sir?" Anthony abruptly pulled back, his grin flashing in the harsh winter light. "Now let's go save your Ditto," he said, still with an eerie grin. "What way? You lead - we need to get there quick." Anthony broke into a quiet chuckle, breaking the tension.

(OOC: That was sooo much fun to write. I'm gonna have fun interacting with Rom. Oh, and ShinE - I understand perfectly that it will be no easy task to battle this Murraven and capture it. In fact, the more difficult, the better.

Romulus decided glaring was overdone, so he sized up the new trainer for the first time. A scarf, the one that had just made him flinch like an idiot; determined but friendly eyes, a hint of kindness even now; and an aura of optimism that wasn't helping in the situation. Romulus already felt distrust towards the boy. "If you were listening, I'm asking Huck for help - " Oh, the irony, he thought " - because Florabloom should be able to take us to Ditto." Again, the layer of ice in his voice, but this time there was a underlying voice of panic, of true feeling. Ditto was his first-caught pokemon, the only pokemon that he had that other trainers couldn't by this point. That, and Lupup. She was his true starter pokemon, the one he'd gotten for all that annoying class's lessons. He hesitated, but hiding his pokemon would be useless - as he'd caught Anthony up on the situation, he'd had to mention his partners. He let out his pokemon, allowing Anthony to see them, but he returned them quickly. "So, Huck?"

Huck was not in the least intimidated by Romulus' tone of before. The reason for that was not so much the strong and tough physique he had gained by being a woodworker this long; the reason was his experience. He had dealt with difficult trainers often enough, and compared to the boy with red hair that had caused him so much trouble before, Romulus was easy to work with. "You should tone down your attitude, kiddo. Don't forget you still have to do some work for me, in order to repay some of your debts," Huck said, not intent on revealing Romulus' habit of stealing right away when it was not necessary.
The woodworker raised his arm and Florabloom flew upwards. "Lead us to the spot where Murraven and Ditto are fighting, Florabloom," the woodworker said, intent on coming along.
As she did what she was told, Florabloom quickly took off.

Murraven reacted by executing Drill Peck. As it flew towards Ditto with its beak aimed at the copy of itself, it flew through the incoming Nightshade, getting hit in the process, but far from enough to stop it from launching its attack.

Anthony took off after the beautiful green bird ahead of the others, remembering to recall Sargon and put Crys on his shoulder beforehand. He ducked through trees and leaped over fallen logs as he dashed behind the Florabloom. Soon,they came to a clearing. Anthony saw a huge, dark bird, no, two birds - attacking each other. "What the..." Anthony reached for his pokedex and scanned one of the birds at random. Just as the device lit up, Anthony realized something.
"Agh! It's gonna speak! Darnit, where's the sound on this thing..." Anthony could hear it whirring and working. "Wah... n-" Florabloom gently glided over and pressed a blue button on the top right of the device. "Ah..." Anthony breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks Florabloom. Now..." Text popped up on the screen.
Ditto. It copies the genetic code of its enemies to transform into them as an exact copy. "So..." Anthony thought about the situation. If that was Ditto, Rom's pokemon, then he shouldn't attack it. A Supersonic wouldn't work because it would confuse Ditto too. "Crys..." he muttered, "Powder Snow!" Crys's eyes glowed briefly for a moment. Opening her mouth, she fired a silent blast of cold air at the unsuspecting bird. It whirled towards the raven, hitting it directly in its back. "Yes!" Anthony shouted. Murraven squawked and turned around. Its eyes flashed. "Uh-oh..." Anthony muttered. "Uh... nice birdie?"

Romulus, of course, wasn't so hasty. Glaring once more at Huck, he followed the vanishing Anthony, mimicking the boy's agile moves as best he could. Despite this, he was signifigantly slower - so he didn't make it in time to see what would happen next.

Ditto had, unfortunately, heard Anthony coming a while before Anthony even made it to the clearing. He supposed Murraven heard it, too, and had turned to look - only to be hit.

Hard. By a Drill Peck.

Ditto barely remembered to flap its wings, to stay high in the air. It cried out, once, but quickly stopped itself. It couldn't show weakness. It shot Murraven a dirty look, only to realize it was looking at the boy it had heard. That complicated things.

Up until that moment, Murraven had enjoyed the fight against its imposter. Now, however, some trainer decided to show up and ruin the party. It did not like the idea of having to fight two pokémon at once, let alone two pokémon in entirely different spots.
The large, dark bird spread its imposing wings and its eyes turned into an eerily red color. Soon, the entire field got shrouded in darkness, since its Midnight had taken effect.
In the darkness, it raised its right wing, and pointed one finger up, before pointing at Anthony's Larvice. One of the Murkrow obeyed this command of its leader, and flew over to Crys, in order to keep it away from the battlefield. Murraven turned back to the fake Murraven, which was still up in the now deeply darkened air.

Romulus squinted. What in the world had just happened, he didn't know. But he heard the squack of a Murkrow, and rushed ahead. Things just kept getting more complicated. And then he saw the field, and everything that was going on. Hmmmmmm . . .

He flipped out his pokedex, searching its memory for Murraven. He cursed, seeing something he'd missed - there were literally pages of moves he'd skipped when he had scanned Murraven. But how did Murraven - ? No, it didn't matter, not now. But what could he, Romulus, do? He felt lost, alone again, abandoned and hiding . . . Or fighting Cain, losing, needing help like a child . . .

Well, this emotion thing was getting him nowhere. "Bellsprout! Now!" Bellsprout, of course, knew what to do. And, for once, the Murkrow wasn't expecting it. "Okay, kid, let's help Ditto."

"Bwuh?!"Anthony looked around at the darkness. It was inexplicable - at least to Anthony. Having grown up in the mountains and having little schooling, he knew not of the move Midnight. He felt suffocated by the darkness, even though he knew he was in an open area. Where was Crys? Anthony fumbled about in the darkness, and brushed against something feathery. He recoiled as it flew off. Anthony felt a rush of wind, and tensed up. Suddenly there was a caw - higher pitched than the large Murraven.
Immediately after, there was a shriek.
"Crys!" Anthony bellowed. He heard the patter of footsteps coming near him, and Crys landed hard on his feet. Something flew through the darkness, pecking Crys. Anthony scooped her up and threw out Sargon for backup. "Sargon," Anthony breathed, "I know you're new to the team, but we're in trouble. Sargon glared at Anthony. Suddenly, there was another caw as the bird flew by. "Ugh..." Anthony thought about the situation. The bird had to be a Murkrow. It would obey it's master's every move, and had the advantage in the darkness. Again, the bird flew by, this time raking Anthony's face and almost laughing raucously. Anthony flinched away. Then he noticed. Sargon's oversized ears were twitching. "That's... it! Echolocation..." Anthony realized he should check if the others were all right. "Huck? Florabloom? Rom!? You guys there? And.. do you have a pokemon with good hearing?"

Romulus looked around, finally spotting Anthony. Obviously, the boy hadn't heard him call, nor had he realized the Murkrow was tied up. Oh well. Let him figure it out. "Not really, kid!" He replied, sending out his remaining pokemon. This battle was just about to get good.

As for EP's post, Murkrow could've gotten rid of the vines with its beak. There's a reason Grass-types are weak against Flying-types, after all. Anyways, I'll leave it up to you two to decide what's up with Murkrow before posting a reply.))

Anthony put his "master" plan into action. "Crys! Supersonic!" Crys let out a wailing from Anthony's arms. "Now! Sargon, listen to it!" He watched Sargon's ears twitch, then the tiny rodent dashed forward. "Alright!" Anthony ran after the Nidoran, to find... a tied up, wailing Murkrow. "Then.. the other one was... an illusion?!"

Sorry, ShinE, I forgot about the cave's purpose (it's been a while since this whole thing started, no?) and strangely assumed the Murkrow would stay to protect it - although I'm sure some did - when you didn't say that they followed.. And EP, I'll try to be more precise next time - and nice job, that cover-up was amazing.

Romulus squinted, barely seeing Anthony in the unnatural darkness. If the boy - and the Murraven - had shown him anything, it was that he'd need a new strategy.

Huck decided it was best to get rid of Murraven's Midnight first. "Let's use Arboreum Florabloom!"

Floraboom flew up into the air and began to glow a deep green. The darkness disappeared and the earth shook as trees began to burst forth from the ground. Now the air was heavy and the area was clogged with trees. Murraven and the Murkrow gave squawk as their cover was destroyed. They were forced into open air as the trees forced them to avoid their up-shooting branches.

((Cameo time!))

Reaching the end of the cave, Seth realized that the woods were very, very dense around here, much denser than any woods he'd ever seen. Decorus Woods wasn't supposed to be this dense. Before long, Scorpion heard a familiar squawking and chirped to warn Seth to uard his backpack. Seth knew the Murkrow was back and it brought its clan with it. He sent out Pinecone (that's what he called him) and Rotor and prepared to fight.

Always hotter than the competition. I got the award for Braving the Marquee of Doom!
