After the delicious pancakes, Seth snuck some coffee in so he won't fall asleep. He was about to exit to get to the lab when his mom said "Wait, before you go, I want to tell you to come home tonight so we can celebrate. See you then!" His mother winked, and he winked back, He then departed for the lab on his bike.

Marvin Bywater, an elderly local of Anchore Town, exited a local grocery store carrying a large bag of groceries. Out of the corner of his eye Marvin could see someone riding a bike at an excited pace. He turned to get a better look and noticed that it was one of his neighbors, Seth. A smile came crossed the aged man's face as he realized that the young trainer must be going off to get his first Pokemon at Professor Idaho's laboratory, which was now under the management of the young Aaron. 'Reminds me of my youth, oh how I miss it,' Marvin thought to himself.

He readjusted the bag in his arm before waving a hand and shouting, "Good luck, my lad!"

Marvin didn't wait for a response because he knew that Seth was going to be to far to hear the call and respond in time, so he just hefted the bag one more time before making his way back to his house.

((OOC: Okay, now get to the Lab, and in the future if you want someone to comment in your RPG, ask them directly through PM.))

Once he reached the lab, Seth peeked inside. No one. He went in and looked around. "Hello?" he asked. Seth heard footsteps and went over to where he heard it. He wasn't paying attention to what was next to him and he accidently pressed a button. He heard the machine turn and turned his attention to the machine. Two Pokeballs popped out. "Uh-oh! How am I going to explain what happened?"

The footsteps had belonged to Aaron, who rounded a corner just in time to see Seth bump into the machine. As the two pokeballs popped out, he said, "Carefull there. That machine won't be hurt by a bump or two, but there are otehrs in the lab that are more delicate." He picked up the two pokeballs, saying, "This one just heals pokemon, smiliar to the machines used by most Pokemon Centers. Now then, if you'll follow me we can get on to what I'm sure you came here for."

Aaron walked over to the area of the lab that was by the front door, where there were several tables with groups of pokeballs. He placed the two pokeballs with oen group, then turned to Seth. "Well, let me welcome you properly to the lab," he said with a smile. "I'm Aaron, Professor Idaho's aide, and I'm taking care of the place while he's away. Did you have an idea ow which pokemon you wanted?"

Aaron watched the Xoskillitn appear and look up at Seth as he said, if you'd like to know more about it, there's a scanner in that corner than can tell you." He pointed to a machine with a slot for a pokeball and a screen. "Just return Xoskillitn to its pokeball and place the ball in the slot."

The machine hummed quietly for a moment before displaying information about the pokemon:

Moves:
Scratch [Nrm]
Scratches the foe with sharp claws.
Leer [Nrm]
Frightens the foe with a leer to lower defense.

With Seth now informed as to his pokemon's abilities, Aaron said, "There's one more thing to take care of before you begin your journey. Follow me, please." He led Seth through a door at the back of the lab, which led to an open-celinged room with a grassy floor. White flowers marked the lines of a pokemon battlefield. "Before you leave, you'll have your first Gym battle! Are you ready?"

Aaron tossed out his own pokeball, which opened to reveal a small, dark bird.

"Nevermore," called Aaron, "start with a Growl."

The bird obediently emitted a loud growl in its opponent's direction.

Xoskillitn cringed at the sound. "Xoskillitn, use Scratch!"
The scorpion sat there.
"What? Xoskillitn, what's wrong?"
The Xoskillitn looked at Seth and blinked. It then jumped up and slashed at the Nevermore with such speed Seth was staring there with his jaw dropped. (ooc: It is okay for the Xoskillitn to be very swift, but very ignorant, right?)

Nevermore reeled, almost not sure where the attack came from.

"Nevermore, Peck it," said Aaron.

Nevermore leapt at Xoskillitn and tried to jab her with its beak.

"Jam dodge!"

The Xoskillitn was puzzled and stood there. It turned towards Seth, as if it was saying "What is that?" before being smacked on the backside by Peck. It did a couple somersaults before getting up. "XOskillitn, circle around it until it's confused then surprise attack with a jump!" The Xoskillitn started circling the bird.

As Xoskillitn started circling around Nevermore, the bird hopped around to continue facing it opponent. It soon found this was not a good idea, because all the hopping was tiring it out quickly, and moving that way was too slow to keep up with its foe. When Xoskillitn jumped at Nevermore, the bird was tired, slightly dizzy, and facing the other way. The fire-type landed a solid hit on the bird.

"Nevermore, try to Tackle," called Aaron, though he wasn't sure if his pokemon could execute the attack effectively as it was.

The little bird did try though, moving to face its opponent before charging at her.

"Fake a Scratch as to daze Nevermore then Scratch for real." Seth wispured as so Aaron didn't hear. The Xoskillitn proceeded to start the counterattack and then suddenly stop.

Nevermore warily watched Xoskillitn when she scuttled forward, but was puzzled when she stopped.

Aaron was also puzzled, but continued giving commands, calling "Peck it, Nevermore."

Nevermore wasn't sure what the arachnid was doing, so it was a little hesitant when it ran up to Xoskillitn to attack. That brief pause was all she needed to slash at the bird, delivering teh delayed attack. Nevermore cawed with pain and surprise before slumping down, unconcious.

"Very nice," called Aaron to Seth as he recalled Nevemore. "Youre turn Lediba!" he said as he tossed his second pokeball. The ladybug pokemon appeared in midair, it's wings making a quiet humming sound as it hovered above the field. "Growl at it," Aaron instructed.

"Dee ba!" called Lediba cheerfully before it growled at Xoskillitn.
