Pokémon Factory Worker

Aaron opened the lab door and smiled at the two new trainers. "Good morning," he said to them. "Professor Idaho is away for a wile, and I'm taking his place until he returns. I'm Aaron, his aide. Please, come on in," he invited, standing back to allow the two boys to enter.

He led the pair to a large table with several groups of pokeballs. Indicating the balls, he told them, "These are all the pokemon we have for new trainers to choose from. Do you have an idea of which you'd like, or would you like me to give you more information on any of them?

Dean turned to Aaron.

"I did some summer work with Professor Idaho, I have a fair idea how the system works. The marked ones house each of the six Bombur starters and the unmarked ones are completely random, isn't it?"

Dean and Marcus both shook their heads but only Marcus answered.

"We both agreed to go random."

They each selected one of the unmarked balls and pushed the button on the front, causing them to expand. They then threw them to the ground to see what Pokémon would emerge.

(OOC: I was actually hoping for completely unrelated Pokémon. And for Marcus to get a Pokémon with an Ice- or Dark-type somewhere in its evolutionary line, for my own reasons. Of course, it's Poryhedron's decision.)

Marcus' Pokéball opened, spilling forth white energy that coalesced into a small green ball. Two thick arms poked out of it, and a pair of eyes blinked from within holes in the center. Then a row of more holes opened under the eyes to permit a gusty voice. "Ca, Cacnea!"
The Cacnea looked at its surroundings... "Nee...." ...and found itself staring right at a giant purple face.
"Shuuu!"
"Caa!" Cacnea stumbled backward and fell on its back, arms waving wildly. Dean's new Shuppet chuckled at its prank. "Hup-pu-pe-pe..."

Dean laughed with his Shuppet as Marcus rushed over to aid his Cacnea.

"Nice job Shuppet. Hmmm...Shuppet seems a little plain. I think I'll call you Mario."

Marcus picked up his Cacnea.

"Keep your cleaning rag under control Dean."

Dean rolled his eyes.

Aaron chuckled a bit at the antics of the two pokemon before speaking. "Well, now that you've met your pokemon, you'd probably like to know what they can do. If you return them to their pokeballs, there's a machine over there that can tell you more about them." Aaron pointed to a machine against one wall that had a slot for a pokeball and a screen. "Just place the pokeballs one at a time in that machine."

Dean pushed the button on the front of his Pokéball, causing it first to flip open and then emit a red beam which sucked Mario back inside. Marcus too activated his Pokéball, recalling his terrified Cacnea. They then placed them both into the machine that Aaron had indicated.

Since only one pokeball could fit in the machine at a time, the boys had to take turns. Dea went first, placing his pokeball in the slot. The machine hummed for a moment before some information appeared on its screen:

SHUPPET

Moves:
Knock Off [Drk]
Knocks down the foe's held item to prevent its use.
Screech [Nrm]
Emits a screech to sharply reduce the foe's DEFENSE.

After Dean had read the information, his pokeball was removed and replaced with Marcus's. The machine briefly hummed again before the screen lit up with new information:

CACNEA

Grs

Moves:
Poison Sting [Psn]
A toxic attack with barbs, etc., that may poison.
Leer [Nrm]
Frightens the foe with a leer to lower DEFENSE.
Absorb [Grs]
An attack that absorbs half the damage inflicted.

As Marcus retrieved his pokeball, Aaron said, "Now that you've both got some information on your pokemon, there's one more thing to take care of. Please follow me, and I'll tell you about it." He led the boys through a door at the back of the room, which led to another room with a grass-covered floor and an open ceiling. On the floor could be seen the lines of a pokemon battlefield, marked with rows of white flowers.

"Your first challenge as trainers is a Gym battle!" announced Aaron. "Choose which of you will go first. Whoever you decide can get started right away." Aaron moved to take his place at one side of the battlefield, then watched the boys expectantly.

Dean frowned when he saw his Shuppet's gender.

"Hmmm, I guess Mario won't work. How about Peach?"

Peach nodded enthusiastically. When Aaron posed his question, Marcus took a step forward and Dean took a step back. Marcus raised his hand.

"I'll go first."

Gym Leader AARON Wants to Fight!

Aaron tossed out his pokeball, from which a dark bird emerged. "Nevermore!" It cawed as it fluttered just above the battlefield.

Daniel ran in with his iPod in hand, and a Pokemon Trainer's Field Guide in the other. He had originally burst through the room, but then he slowed. He sat down against the wall. "Dang, I'm too late! Who knew that setting an Alarm Clock 4 minutes after the usual time would do this?!"

Daniel was watching the 2 eagerly, but now he was setting the perfect battle music. He decided on "Eye of the Tiger..."

But then, Daniel wondered what Pokemon he would get. He liked the Scorpion, but he also liked the Iguana. He liked the Leech, but he also liked the Anemone. He just decided he would choose a Random Pokemo, and leave it up to fate....

(OOC: Squirrelay said I could use Bulbasaur again!

Aaron looked over as another boy rushed into the room. "Are your here for your fist pokemon? Then go ahead and choose the one you want, then let it out so you can meet it. I'll be with you after this battle." Then he turned back to the battlefield as he waited for Marcus to send out his pokemon.

Daniel slowly walked over to the table. He heard from his parents that there was a bag of Pokeballs for trainers to choose their Random pokemon. These days, it was a large computer with Pokeball pictures. He looked at all of them carefully and touched the one he wanted. The Pokeball came out of the Computer like Soda out of a Vending Machine. Daniel grabbed it, and tossed it. Out came........
