YOU MUST BE REGISTERED BEFORE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE RPG! Go here to register your trainers and here to register your Free-Spirit.
New Rules - 11-11-2010
General Rules:
#1: Always start out in designated locations This means that if you are posting as a Trainer you must start out in Anchore Town and get your first Pokémon at the Anchore Lab. If you are starting out as a Free-Spirited Pokémon then you need to start out in the Manifold Forest.
#2: Hands Off This means hands off other people's characters. You may not control what they say or do. You have your own characters, so develop them. This goes for trainers' Pokémon as well. Of course, you may also not control Staff-controlled characters, namely the Gym Leaders and Exodus.
#3:
Rule of Two We are
now only allowing two main characters per player in an RPG topic (that means two in a Trainer topic and two in a Free Spirits topic).
Depending on how well you obey the other rules we may allow you to make another
main character.
#4: Rivals All forms of Pokémon media have the main characters form rivalries with another character. In the RPG it’s the same way. Each member is allowed one rival character along with the standard two, but bear in mind that your rival character is not a main character and should only pop into your RPG once in a while. Also, you need to keep us posted on what Pokémon your Rival captures before showing off any of them. Also, make sure that your rival doesn't interfere too much with other members' characters.
#5: Landscape We have given you a loose description of the
many varied locales in Bombur and therefore we will allow a certain level of
freedom when it comes to painting its landscape. Basic things such as small
lakes, ponds, streams, caves and other locationsto are acceptable, but anything
major without approval is not allowed.
#6: Special
Events You can
create all sorts of competitions and festivals at the different towns you
visit, but you must keep them small and simple. Pokéathlons, cross-regional
competitions or nation-wide events of any kind are not allowed.
Pokémon Species:
#7: Approval The Pokémon Factory has provided many interesting Pokémon, locations, and others for use in the RPG's. We would like you to fully utilize what has been given to you. Therefore no new locations, Pokémon, moves, abilities, or items will be allowed without the approval of the Staff through the right channels. Pokémon and moves have their own approval process and we do not accept the usage of non-approved Pokémon. In other words: You are only allowed to meet and capture Pokémon Factory Pokémon that are approved and dexed on the site.
#8:
Rare Pokemon In the
Trainer RPG's you cannot encounter/capture rare Pokémon without permission. In the
Free-Spirit RPG we will be lenient, but don't make it a habit of seeing rare
Pokémon. Check the Placement List for information on what Pokemon can be found
where and what their rarity is. To ask for permission to encounter/capture a Pokémon
marked as 'rare', please PM a Staff Member. Shiny Pokémon are treated as 'rare' in the PFL, so you need to ask permission to encounter/capture a shiny Pokémon.
#9:
No Legendary Pokémon
You may not fight, capture, or see Legendary Pokémon of any kind in either
RPG’s. They are called Legends for a reason and most humans and Pokémon go
throughout their entire lives without seeing a Legendary.
After
you have beaten the PFL, though, who knows what might happen...
#10: No Legendary Items You may not obtain any items that pertain to any of the official or Pokémon Factory Legendary Pokémon. So that means you cannot find the Adamant Orb or a Time Crystal. Also, no making up any item that makes your Pokémon super powerful or grants them unknown powers; it is unfair and is the equivalent of cheating.
#11: No Powerful Pokémon Do not make your Pokémon for some
mysterious reason whatsoever more powerful than they would normally be (with or
without the use of an item); it is unfair and is the equivalent of cheating.
The only exception to this rule are, of course, the shadow Pokémon in the
Free-Spirits RPG's. Players are not allowed to encounter/capture/use shadow Pokémon in the Trainer RPGs.
Staff Interaction:
#12: Multiple Faces Unlike before, Staff-controlled characters
such as Gym Leaders and HM Keepers will not be controlled by just one Staff
Member. Any Staff Member might pop up in your topic to reply, depending on
which Staff Member is able to reply first.
#13: Gym Leaders A Gym Leader will always be played by the Staff. If your character reaches the Gym, you can PM a Staff Member, asking him/her to control the Gym Leader. The player has no right to ask the Staff Member to play according to a certain storyline or to act in a certain way.
#14: HM Keepers If a player wants to have interaction with a
Staff-controlled HM-keeper, the player can PM a Staff Member and ask him/her to
play as the HM Keeper.
If the player asks for Staff interaction, however, the player has no right to
ask the Staff Member to play according to a certain storyline or to act in a
certain way. If the Staff Member plays as the HM Keeper, the Staff member is in
full control of the HM Keeper's actions and will not be restricted to ideas
that were settled beforehand. If the player does not agree with this, the Staff
member will not play as the HM Keeper and the player will have to control the HM
Keeper as an NPC instead.
If there
will not be any Staff interaction, the player is allowed to control the
HM-keeper him/herself as an NPC, with the following restrictions:
- the HM Keeper can only be found in the location that is set for the HM Keeper
to be found;
- the name and profession of the HM Keeper are set in stone;
- the HM Keeper is treated as an NPC, and thus HM Keeper's role should be
limited. This means that the player will encounter the HM Keeper and will
receive the HM after showing the HM Keeper the badges he/she has collected so
far.
#15 Evil Teams The player can request an encounter with one
of the three Evil Teams. Depending on the location in Bombur the player is in,
the Staff will pick one of the Evil Teams and a Staff Member will play as that
particular team.
Although
these encounters are entirely optional, they are advised to get the most out of
the story the PFL has to offer. Once the player reaches a certain point in the
story of the PFL, the Staff might enter your story as an Evil Team without
having received a PM beforehand. This will be done to advance your story;
the actions of the Evil Team will differ depending on how often you encountered it and/or which other Teams you encountered.
The player has no right to ask the Staff Member to play according to a certain
storyline or to act in a certain way.
#16 Asking the Staff to reply The player is allowed to PM a Staff
member, asking him/her politely to post in the PFL after one week has passed since the last time a
Staff member posted. PMs that are sent before that time limit
has passed will get ignored. If there are other questions/remarks in such a PM,
they will get ignored as well and will have to be re-sent in a separate PM.
Moves:
#17a Natural Move Lists of Nintendo Pokémon If the player wants to know what
moves a certain species of Pokémon can learn, the player can visit the Pokédex
serebii.net has to offer. In the PFL, a Pokémon may keep all of the moves it
learns naturally. Players are free to decide from which generation they want to
use the move list (RBY, GSC, RSE, DPPt, BW) and are even allowed to combine
them, but their Pokémon are only allowed to keep the moves it learns by leveling up. For any other kind
of moves, different restrictions are applied, as explained below.
#17b Natural Move Lists of Pokémon Factory
Pokémon If the
player wants to know what moves a certain species of Pokémon Factory Pokémon
can learn, the player can visit the Pokémon Factory site to look up that Pokémon's
move list. In the PFL, a Pokémon may keep all of the moves it learns naturally.
Unlike DPPt- and RSE-style Pokémon, GSC-style Pokémon might have relatively
short move lists. Those will get updated eventually, but until then, those are
the only moves that particular Pokémon
Factory Pokémon is able to learn by leveling up. We will not update the
Pokémon's move list as a request. Any PMs asking us to do so will get ignored.
If there are other questions/remarks in such a PM, they will get ignored as
well and will have to be re-sent in a separate PM.
However, if the PF Pokémon has no move list to begin with, the player is
allowed to PM a Staff member, asking for a move list. The Staff will discuss
this and will provide you with a move list as soon as possible.
#18 Egg Moves A player is allowed to add four Egg Moves to the list of natural
moves a certain Pokémon is able to learn.
#18a Egg Moves of Nintendo Pokémon Egg Moves of Nintendo Pokémon can be found at the Pokédex serebii.net has to offer. Players are free to decide from which generation they want to use the egg moves (GSC, RSE, DPPt, BW) and are even allowed to combine them. We will not add Pokémon Factory moves to Egg Move lists of Nintendo's Pokémon. Period. Any PMs asking us to do so will get ignored. If there are other questions/remarks in such a PM, they will get ignored as well and will have to be re-sent in a separate PM.
#18b Egg Moves of Pokémon Factory Pokémon Egg Moves of Pokémon Factory
Pokémon can be found on the Pokémon Factory site. If a Pokémon Factory Pokémon
has no Egg Moves list yet, the player is allowed to look up a comparable Nintendo
Pokémon and base its Egg Moves on that Pokémon. The Staff will leave it up to the player's discretion to choose the
correct moves. However, as soon as the PF Pokémon is provided with Egg
Moves on the site, those moves are final, and the player is required to
change the Egg Moves of his/her Pokémon accordingly. There will be no
exceptions to this rule.
#19 PF's Hidden Machine Moves In the PFL, a Pokémon may keep all of the HMs it is able to learn. A player receives HMs from HM Keepers. Their location, name and profession are set in stone and can be found on the Pokémon Factory site. The player is not allowed to change this information. If the player requests Staff interaction, the HM Keeper will hand over the HM after going on a fun adventure with the player. If the player treats the HM Keeper as an NPC, the HM Keeper will simply hand over the HM if the player is able to show all of the Gym Badges he/she should have collected so far.
#19a PF's Hidden Machine Moves of Nintendo
Pokémon
For an idea of which Pokémon Factory HMs Nintendo's Pokémon can learn, check
out the Pokédex serebii.net has to offer and look at the TMs and HMs that particular
Pokémon can learn. The Staff will leave
it up to the player's discretion to choose the correct HMs. However, as
soon as a Nintendo Pokémon is provided with a HM list on the site (in the
SuperDex), the list is final, and the player is required to
change the HMs of his/her Pokémon accordingly. There will be no exceptions to
this rule.
#19b PF's Hidden Machine Moves of Pokémon
Factory Pokémon
The HMs a Pokémon Factory Pokémon can learn can be found on the Pokémon Factory
site. If a Pokémon has no HM list yet, the player is allowed to look up a
comparable Nintendo Pokémon and base the HMs of the Pokémon Factory Pokémon on
the TMs and HMs that particular Nintendo Pokémon is able to learn. The Staff will leave it up to the player's
discretion to choose the correct HMs. However, as soon as the PF Pokémon is
provided with a HM list on the site, the list is final, and the player is required to change the HMs of
his/her Pokémon accordingly. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
#20 Technical Machine Moves In the PFL, a Pokémon may know up to
four TMs or Move Tutors. If a player wants to teach his/her Pokémon a new TM or
Tutor Move, an existing one should be deleted.
TMs can
be bought in shops. There is a list on the Pokémon Factory site that shows
where in Bombur TMs can be bought and how expensive they are by using the
categories 'cheap', 'affordable' and 'expensive'. Unlike in Pokémon Black &
White, TMs
can only be used once in Bombur. However, apart from the mysterious Magic Spell, every single TM is
available in a shop, and thus can be bought multiple times.
#20a Technical Machine Moves of Nintendo Pokémon
For the TM lists of Nintendo Pokémon, check out the Pokédex serebii.net has to
offer. Players are only allowed to use the TMs of the current generation. Which
generation that is, is reflected by the TM list on the Pokémon Factory site.
The Pokémon Factory has added a number of TMs to the official list. Players are
free to determine what Pokémon Factory TMs a Nintendo Pokémon is able to use by
comparing the Pokémon Factory TMs to the Nintendo TMs that Pokémon is able to
use. The Staff will leave it up to the
player's discretion to choose the correct TMs. However, as soon as a
Nintendo Pokémon is provided with a TM list on the site (in the SuperDex), the list is final, and the
player is required to change the TMs of
his/her Pokémon accordingly. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
#20b Technical Machine Moves of Pokémon Factory
Pokémon The TMs a Pokémon
Factory Pokémon can learn can be found on the Pokémon Factory site. If a Pokémon
Factory Pokémon has no TM list yet, the player is allowed to look up a
comparable Nintendo Pokémon and base the TMs of the Pokémon Factory Pokémon on
the TMs that particular Nintendo Pokémon is able to learn. The Staff will leave it up to the player's discretion to choose the
correct TMs. However, as soon as the PF Pokémon is provided with a TM list
on the site, the list is final, and the player is required to
change the TMs of his/her Pokémon accordingly. There will be no exceptions to
this rule.
#21 Move Tutors in Bombur Scattered throughout Bombur,
various Move Tutors can be found. Their location and appearance are set in
stone and can be found on the site. The player is not allowed to change this
information. The player is allowed to control these Move Tutors as NPCs, but
their appearance should be brief. Teaching a move is all these Tutors should be
doing.
In the PFL, a Pokémon may know up to four TMs or Move Tutors. If a player wants
to teach his/her Pokémon a new TM or Tutor Move, an existing one should be
deleted.
#21a Move Tutors of Nintendo Pokémon For an idea of which Move Tutor
moves Nintendo Pokémon can learn, check out the Pokédex serebii.net has to
offer and look at the TMs and HMs that Pokémon can learn. The Staff will leave it up to the player's discretion to choose the
correct Tutor moves. However, as soon as the Nintendo Pokémon is provided
with a Move Tutor moves list on the site (in the SuperDex), the list is final, and the player is required to change the Move
Tutor moves of his/her Pokémon accordingly. There will be no exceptions to this
rule.
#21b Move Tutors of Pokémon Factory Pokémon The Move Tutor moves a Pokémon Factory
Pokémon can learn can be found on the PF site. If a Pokémon has no Tutor move
list yet, the player is allowed to look up a comparable Nintendo Pokémon and
base the Tutor moves of the Pokémon Factory Pokémon on the TMs and HMs that particular
Nintendo Pokémon is able to learn. The Staff will leave it up to the player's
discretion to choose the correct moves from PF's Move Tutor page. However, as soon as the Pokémon Factory Pokémon is
provided with a Move Tutor move list on the site, the list is final, and the player is required to change the Move
Tutor moves of his/her Pokémon accordingly. There will be no exceptions to this
rule.
Disobeying Rules and Strikes
#22 Strike! Failure to obey any of the above rules will result in a strike without warning. Three strikes equals a one-month ban.
#23 Monitoring The Staff most likely will not have the time to monitor each and every PFL topic in detail. Players in an adventure should therefore keep the rules in mind themselves. If they feel a certain rule is being violated, they can PM a Staff Member. The Staff Member will look up the topic and judge what should be done about the situation. You are only allowed to alert Staff Members about topics you are participating in yourself.
