Well, because it is a fat snake, basically; but more importantly, it is confirmed by the fact that Dunsparce's Japanese name, Nokocchi, is based upon this creature's name, as explained in Bulbapedia.

I've always wondered, why do the evil teams go after one-off legendary Pokemon anyways? Wouldn't you think that they'd have a better chance conquering someplace by using an army of trained Pokemon rather than going after a mythical being that they never actually get?

Welcome to PF Caliber. WHAT NOW, FLARSY! BEAT YOU TO THE PUNCH! Unfortunately, can't say the same thing for beating JDLJDL.

I tame the burninators.

Here's how the Slakoth line really goes through evolution:

Slakoth drinks a Red Bull, causing it to get hyper and evolve into Vigoroth.
The caffeine rush ends, causing Vigoroth to evolve into Slaking.

I actually joined here last year, but I've been dead for quite a while. I suggested one thing that sucked, so I'm waiting for the reopening. Thanks anyway, Trogdor. Pokemon should really make a game where the evil team actually does win for a while, instead of getting beaten badly and having their legendary taken from them.

Yeah, it's still in my book. I have a whole bunch more to add as soon as suggestions re-open. I've been perfecting my ideas.

Anyways, to put more questions on the board, Why do you think it is that only the Sinnoh starters eventually learn moves that can beat the starter it's weak against? (Torterra learning Earthquake, Infernape learning Close Combat, Empoleon learning Drill Peck?)

I hope they do keep it. I didnt like the D/P starters in the first place.

What would the legendaries on the cover of the two generation 5 games be based on? you cant get much bigger then time and space

Well, it's a bit cliché, but perhaps chaos and order. Or similarly, creation and destruction. Or even better, no more superpowerful legendaries!!! D/P already introduced enough. They could add only a trio and a trio master for the new region and cut it there. The covers could be dedicated to the starters, old school style, or to the trio in similar fashion.

Ho-Oh=Heatran

He's got a point; the 4th gen had the most amount of legendaries. Personally, I think Heatran, Darkrai, Cresselia, and Shaymin could be cut out. Just Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Arceus would be just fine.
