From what I know, beavers only have scales on their tails, maybe Nintendo wanted to resemble that on some way! My thesis is that Bibarel got its second type from the beaver´s features and other pokémon like Girafarig got it from the pokémon´s attributes. Giraffes don´t have psychic loins and backlegs, but Girafarig does which fits it perfectly.

Well, in a way it's not spamming since this discussion originated from one of PCZPhire's questions. Flarsable's last post... that was truly out of place.

I totally agree with you, Poryhedron, that's why I stated that I like Bibarel as an exception.

And Bibarel is a beaver, beavers have aquatic qualities, hence where Bibarels Water type comes from. It's that simple. Get it, since one of Bibarels abilities is Simple? Umm...

Jigglyclops makes a good point; it is probably its tail that allow it to swim as well as it does, and maybe that part of it is seen as Water-type, while the rest of it is Normal.

its phYre.. not phIre... and second, phyre will do very well as a nickname. :P

No one is sure, and the staff wont say. Its VERY annoying! However you can post your ideas in Pokemon Chat, Pokemon Stuff for the time being.
