"OK, thanks for the suggestion," Shira said. She waved goodbye as she headed out, wondering if her newest pokemon, Gyarados, would fit in the fountain...or if she'd even want an untrained pokemon like him loose in a populated area.

She headed straight for the Pokemon Center when she left the Gym, since her tired pokemon's well-being were most important to her. She studied a map pf Bombur as she waited for her pokemon to be healed, trying to figure out where she ought to head next. It looked like the next Gym was far to the east, and on an icy region. She supposed she should catch a Fire-type before then, and make sure Meditite and Sparret had some good Fighting-type moves.

After retrieving her freshly healed pokemon, Shira walked out into the city again. This time she headed for the fountain Calleo mentioned. Even if it wasn't a good place to let out Gyarados, it sounded like a lovely place to visit, and since her friends would be challening the Gym Leader she had a little time for sight-seeing.

Shira wandered up to the fountain, enjoying the beautiful structure. It definitely looked important, far too important to left Gyarados out in, but that was fine with her. She could just enjoy the view for now and worry about her pokemon later.

She was rather surprised when a boy rushed up to her, talking about an offer. She blinked at him a moment, taken aback, before answering. "Um...ok. I'm Shira. What kind of offer is it?" She hoped it wasn't anything wierd.

Shira relaxed. A trade seemed perfectly reasonable, and Jeremy seemd honest. It wouldn't hurt to help him, and she had some time. She didn't have to think about it long.

"Sure," she said, nodding. "I'll help you. It shouldn't be too hard to find a Pikachu."

Shira smiled at Jeremy as he rushed off, clearly very happy. She didn't mind helping, and the task seemed easy enough, but she hoped that it wouldn't take too long. She ought to be back at the Gym before her friends finished battling, after all.

Seeing no reason to wait, Shira headed out of the city and back into the Decorus Woods. She wandered through the forest, trying to make as little noise as possible as she kept a sharp lookout for any pokemon. She soon caught a glimpse of a yellow figure behind a bush and quickly tossed out Sparret's pokeball. As her pokemon materialized and dashed into the bush, she thought, Is that a Pikachu already? What luck! But when her pokemon chased out his foe, the yellow figure turned out to not it turned out to be the furred form of the pokemon she was seeking, but instead the elongated body of a Weedle. She grinned sheepishly, feeling a little foolish for jumping to conclusions so quickly, and let her pokemon defeat the bug before they moved on. Good thing there was nobody else around to witness the mistake.

Shira left Sparret out, so they could react quickly to any pokemon they saw and so her least experienced pokemon could get some training in. They spent a while in the woods, with Shira letting Sparret fight many of the pokemon they came across. As he finished off a particularly tough Mankey, she saw he was starting to get tired. She knelt down by her pokemon and rubbed his head, saying, "Aw, you look like you're in need of a rest. You've done great, why don't you come back to your pokeball now and I'll let someone else out." To her surprise, her little pokemon shook his head vehemently. "Huh? Why not?" she started to ask, when a rustling in some nearby ferns caught her ear. Trainer and pokemon both peered through the undergrowth, trying to see what had made the noise. Sparret spotted it first and quickly dashed into the brush. "Hey, wait," Shira called after her pokemon and scrambled after it.

A high cry of "Pika!" and the crackle of lighting caught her ears just before she came in sight of her pokemon. Seeing that Sparret was facing off against a Pikachu, she grinned. "Nice going, Sparret! You found one!" she said to her pokemon. Then she focused on the battle, determined to catch this pokemon on the first try.

The Pikachu's cheeks sparked momentarily before it shot a Thundershock at Sparret. The nimble pokemon jumped to the side, but he was too tired from his earlier battles and wasn't quite fast enough to avoid the attack. The small bolts of lightning crackled along his side, but he barely flinched.

"Sand Attack," called Shira, and her pokemon quickly kicked a thick cloud of sand at the Pikachu. The Pikachu squinted through the dust, but dashed forward in a Quick Attack…straight into a second cloud of dirt that Sparret kicked right into its face. It had to stop and rub its eyes, trying to rid them of grit.

Seeing her chance, Shira said, "Now Double Kick." Her pokemon dashed forward and delivered two strong kicks to its opponent. The Pikachu cried out, then Growled fiercely before jumping backwards. It had its eyes open again, though they were squinted and teary. They also seemed not to see very well at the moment, since when the Pikachu dashed forward for another Quick Attack, it was several inches off.

As Pikachu skidded to a stop behind Sparret, Shira called out, "Quick Attack." Her pokemon dashed at Pikachu for its own speedy attack, and the Pikachu turned around too slowly to avoid it. It was knocked to the ground and was rather slow to get back to its feet.

Seeing that the Pikachu was at the end of its strength, Shira pulled out a pokeball. She took a couple steps to the side to be sure her pokemon wasn't in the way, then tossed the pokeball and the downed Pikachu. The electric pokemon was sucked in the ball in a flash of light, then the ball fell to the ground. It shook for a few moments as the Pikachu struggled, then finally lay still.

With a cheer Shira rushed forward to scoop up the pokeball. "Alright! That was great, Sparret--" she started to say, but when she turned to look at her pokemon she saw he was behaving oddly. He was standing strangely still, his eyes bright and expectant. She started to walk towards him, concerned, but then he began to glow. Her eyes grew wide with surprise, then with delight as she realized what was happening. Her pokemon was evolving!

As she watched, her Sparret was enveloped in a white light, then his indistinct silhouette began to grow. When it had at least doubled in size, the glow slowly faded away. Shira beamed with pride at her newly-evolved Dennet.

"Congratulations!" Shira exclaimed as she knelt down to pet her pokemon. "No wonder you didn't want to stop yet. You could tell, huh?" Her pokemon nodded, then yawned, swaying on his feet. "But now you're even more tired," she observed. "It's high time we got you to a Pokemon Center. " She hugged her pokemon once before returning him to his pokeball.


A little while later Shira entered the Bastion City Pokemon Center, having walked straight there from her capture of the Pikachu. She immediately walked up to the counter and left her Dennet with the nurse to be healed. Only then did she look around for Jeremy, holding the pokeball containing Pikachu in her hand.

Shira waved goodbye the Jeremy as the happy trainer rushed off. Then she let out Togepi and picked her up to get a good look at her new pokemon.

"Well aren't you cute?" she said as she held Togepi up. The egg-like pokemon wiggled and chirped happily. Shira couldn't help smile as she pulled out her pokedex. "I suppose I ought to see what you can do..." she said as she scanned the pokemon. Unfortunately, she couldn't do much, and didn't learn any offensive moves besides Metronome for quite a while. "Oh dear, that could be a problem," muttered Shira. "I may need to find a TM for you somhow. I wonder if the Pokemart here might sell any..." She chewed her lip as she thought, then brightened hopefully as she remembered that she had an HM. "I wonder if you can learn Cut." A quick check of her pokedex made that hope die as she found it was false. "Hmm, that's too bad. I'll deffinitely have to think of something." She patted Togepi on the head absently before returning her to her pokeball.

After retrieving her healed Dennet, she left the Pokemon Center and then, after a moment's hesitation, headed for the Pokemart. It wouldn't hurt to at least check if they carried TMs.

(OOC: Is the Togepi at any particular level? Or just 5, since Jeremy said it was his starter? And would the pokemart have any TMs?)
