GOAL: Wishes to take his mentor's place as Pokemon Professor.
CONTROL METHOD: Goes over extensive training with his Pokemon, teaching them battle strategies -- "plays", if you will.
DESCRIPTION: Edison usually wears his favorite tee-shirt (a dark tee with a stylized Misdreavus on) with a button-up tee over it. He wears black jeans, held up with a braided belt. His shoes are black and red. His hair is a coppery blond.
BACKGROUND: Raised in Providence Town in a far-off region (no names mentioned), Edison was brought up by his mother and father, as well as a close friend of the family -- the resident Pokemon Professor, Professor Martin. As a child, Edison enjoyed seeing the Pokemon outside his home town--he was an avid fan of the ghostly ones that hovered to and fro on dark, moonless nights. This fascination ultimately had him take up an internship at Martin's laboratory, just outside of Providence Town. Ever since, Edison has finally got the chance to work with Pokemon of all different types; with his help, a new species of Pokemon was found in a small cavern off the shore of his island nation.

However, Edison never really had a chance to keep Pokemon. All during his stay at the lab, he grew attached to Pokemon specimens that, after being studied, were released into the wild. One day, Edison decided to take a specimen with him; a Misdreavus, which he named Missy. He kept Missy a secret for about a month, training it at midnight when the rest of his town was asleep. By the time Martin had found out, Edison had grown quite attached to the little ghost. In his kindness, Martin decided to let Edison keep Missy as a pet.

Edison and Missy were quite a duo, doing many a thing together: they played, ate, and even slept together. To Edison, Missy was a lot more than a pet -- she was a friend. One day, however, Missy fell sick. Knowing not what to do, Edison ran to Professor Martin, begging for help. The diagnosis? A rare, nigh-incurable case of Pokemonia left Missy hacking and gasping for air. Edison asked Martin for a cure... and was met with a sad reply.

There is no known cure for Pokemonia; not one made public, anyhow. Martin knew, however, of a berry that, if made into a fine powder, could clear the system of the virus. A Starf berry.

Edison was blown aback. A cure? He knew that he had to find a Starf berry, so he asked Martin where to find one. Martin sighed, and said the nearest place where Starf grew was on an island continent known as Bombur...
