With the introduction of the DP pokmon we now know of, two PF pokmon are in need of a change. And while Yawnlax makes up a very excellent pre-evo for Munchlax, I personally am not sure about #FA026 Balyantis after Tamanta was revealed. Should Mantine's line be a three-stage one, or are Tamanta and Mantine really enough? And would Balyantis work as Tamanta pre-evo, or is Tamanta already baby-ish enough?

As the original suggestor of Balyantis I therefore like to ask your opinions on this matter. Would you like to keep Balyantis as pre-evo of Tamanta, or do you think it has become redundant now?

Well seeing as how mantine doesn't have an evolution at this point I think it would be fine as a pre-evolution to Tamanta.

Well, I personally like Balyantis a lot more than Tamanta. >>; But anyways, I think that it would do fine as a Pokmon that evolves from Tamanta, as it doesnt seem quite as baby-ish.

Its seems kind of odd haing a three stage that the baby has wings, it loses them, then grows them back.

If it became an evolution of Tamanta, perhaps we could change the sprite to add wings. I agree that making Balyantis the second stage of the family makes sense.

Agree to disagree with darkwolf on which one is better looking. Personally I prefer Tamanta. Hm... It's not that I don't like Balyantis but I prefer Diamond and Pearl's. I think it would be good to have Balyantis to evolve from Tamanta since Balyantis doesn't look as childish. Maybe it could be given wings like Miravistel said... Would that affect to much cause I don't see any real problems. Another debate might be whether or not Tamanta and Balyantis could be alternate pre-evolves. I always like that idea but it might mess something up... We can't have Balyantis in between Nintendo's pokemon anyway because then we are alternating the evolution instead of just adding on...

If it does bother you that Tamanta has some form of wings while Balyantis doesnt, you could always tweak its sprite a bit, as others have suggested, to give them some form of wing formations. However, two different baby Pokmon that evolve into Mantine are rather pointless, and there is really no other option. In anycase, if you do want to make Balyantis evolve into Tamanta, youll probably have to shrink its sprite and dex size.

In my opinion, Baylantis works excellently as a pre-evolution of Tamanta. Its body is more compact (and without wings like it was mentioned before), and its eyes and 'horns' are smaller. Besides, I actually think it looks more baby-ish than Tamanta. The only problem could be the tail, which it would loose and regain, but I don't think that would be much of a problem as well. As in: "it is small, it uses its tail for protection. It evolves, loses the tail and gains speed. It evolves again, recovers the tail but without the stinger, since it is an adult and doesn't need it."

I have one more argument against putting Baylantis in the middle: it is a pure water-type and Tamanta water/flying. Putting Baylantis in the middle would require making it water/flying, and by the way it looks it would also require changing its shape. And thus, it wouldn't be the same pokmon any more.

I say we do the following:
keep Baylantis.
Change the ht/wt.
Shrink the sprite a bit.
Wait to see how Tamanta evolves and change Baylantis' evolution method.
Maybe I'm biased because I am the concept artist, but I think that is the best course of action.

I agree with Antarctros. Balyantis is much more rounded, which makes it look young.

Um, I have an idea. What id you make Balyantis part of a different evolution line, like an opposite to Tamanta and Mantine. You could have it evolve, and there's a couple different ways you could do that. You could make it so heavy that it sinks to the bottom of the ocean and waits for prey, or you could make it float at the top, mayble like an Atlantis pokmon, with towers on its back, or something.

But then again, Antarctros' idea is good too, I agree with him.

Sooo, it seems that everyone likes Balyantis enough that they want to keep it. I'm glad to hear that ^-^
I'm opting against putting it between Tamanta and Mantine, since that would alter Nintendo's evolution line, something we have never done before, and something I feel we shouldn't do.
Antarctros ideas do sound good, indeed. However, Blueeyess does make a good point there. Creating a two-stage counterpart of Tamanta and Mantine might be nice. I'll think about it. Perhaps I can come up with a good evolution.
