I think that the Fake Pokemon Pomponge and Spump should be Grass/Water because they are supposed to be sea sponges.

EDIT:
I just saw the new Fake Items, and I think that the name of the Egypt Amulet must be changed because Egypt doesn't exist in Pokemon World.

Egypt Amulet, don't like your idea. You must be a newbie, because they aren't sea sponges, at least I think not. They should be Water type, though!

1.I think they ARE sea sponges, which are actually more animal than plant, so the Grass type will make no sense.(How about asking Antarctros, he was the original suggestor of these)
2.Just think of the pokemon world as FICTIONAL, (or an alternate dimension, if you want) So there's a possibility that there's a place named Egypt - complete with deserts, mummies, and pyramids - found there.
Or the description can note that it came from a portal to another dimension.(which was our dimension all along)

Pomponge and Spump are indeed sea sponges, Pomponge = pompom + sponge. But sea sponges are not plants at all, they are 100% animals. Hence, the Grass-type is indeed not necessary (but that doesn't mean there couldn't be a Grass/Water sea sponge pokmon).

And there's nothing wrong with mentioning Egypt. Other locations of the real world were already mentioned in dexes in the official games, and in the anime. The regions of the RPGs are inspired in areas of Japan. See this page for more information.

I found something for supporting my Water/Grass type change suggestion:
Coral is also an animal, but the Coral Pokemon Corsola is Water/Rock type. So it would be reasonable that Pomponge/Spump had Water/Grass type.

And in a completely different subject, I was seeing the RSE-style Pokemon when I found something wrong with Protogon:
With Protogon and the new Pokemon Porygon-Z, Porygon has now 4 evolutions, which breaks an important PF rule.

As you can see, the author of Protogon didn't make the mistake, but the DP game made it a mistake.

And btw, all official Fossil Pokemon are Rock/????, so Plesiorain should be Rock too since it's a fossil. Rock/Ice woudln't be bad.

Coral has nothing to do with sea sponges.

And as for the Porygon thing, I believe the staff had an idea that since Porygon can be considered a computer program, there could be two versions.

One version's evolution method would be Protogon -> Porygon -> Porygon2

The other would be Porygon -> Porygon2 -> Porygon-Z

It's like one's the current version, and the other's outdated.

Do you see how both apparent something they aren't?

So, if Nintendo gave Rock type to a Pokemon based on a rock-like animal, then a Pokemon based on a sponge-like animal can be easily Grass type.

Your explanation about the Porygon lines is correct, Dustminion.

About the fossil pokmon, we've decided to be a bit flexible on the issue and allow some of them not to be Rock-type. We do prefer people to follow the Nintendo standard, but we won't force them to do it if they really don't want to.

Corals are not rock-like sea animals. They are animals that actually secrete a mineral exoskeleton. Thus, the Rock-type made perfect sense from the beginning. In any case, sorry, but I just don't want to change my pokmon, for any reason. I'm satisfied with them as they are now.

Corals would be impossible to classify in pokmom under two types... they're Rock, Water, Grass, Poison, some could be Fire, some Fighting...

Sponges don't synthesise, so aren't plants, but they are still plant-like in other ways - they grow like algae.
