Darjulok, all your suggestions for type-change are coming out of nowhere. Your basis for most is moves or to strengthen them and generally these are not valid reasons. None of the Pokmon you mentioned have any reason to be changed. If you look at the ones that are beng changed, they're adding a type that was previously unavailable to the Pokmon.

I know, I noticed that after I had done the list you see above. That's why I edited my post saying that I will leave the list there just in case ShinE likes my type change ideas.

I mentioned those changes because I think that those are the types the Pokemon should have, not the current ones.

Plus, giving new type combination to some Pokemon just for their learnsets will bring more originality to PF. Example: Butterfree could become Bug/Psychic (because she learns Psychic moves), and would gain a type combination that currently no official Pokemon has yet.

Here are the reasons of why the type of these Pokemon could be changed:

Drapion: Bug/Dark
It loses its Bug type, but he is still "used" by Aaron, the Bug E4

Vibrava/Flygon: Bug/Dragon
Vibrava looks more like a Bug than a dragon; and Flygon looks like a Bug, so it could lose Ground

Trapinch: Bug/Ground
His species is "Ant" Pokemon

Sceptile: Grass/Dragon
Its in the "Dragon" Egg Group, and resembles a Dragon.

Gyarados: Water/Dragon
Resembles the Chinese Dragon, and its Flying type is from nowhere

Mesprit/Uxie/Azelf (if they ever appear in Bombur): Psychic + Fire/Electric/Water
The other trios got 3 different types, but these got only Psychic.

Gardevoir: Pyschic/Ghost
She is in the "Indeterminate" Egg group

Regigigas: Fight
Would represent the power he has over the other 3 Regis, who coincidentally are all weak to Fight.

Buneary Line: Fight
Learns some "Kick" moves; and in the anime, Dawn's has Ice Punch and during the 1st encounter, it took a fighting stance (like is she where about to box)

Charizard: Fire/Dragon
Resembles a Dragon

Lucario: Fight/Psychic
Aura = Psychic power, and the Steel type is from nowhere

Cherrim: Grass/Light
Blooms under sunlight

Luvdisc: Water/Magic
Is related to love, and love is often compared with magic.

OK, Drapion's type should not be determined by trainers who use him. In case you haven't noticed, Lopunny, Steelix and Drifblim are all used by the Fire-type specialist.

All your Dragon-related arguements are out of nowhere, sure they resemble Dragons but if Nintendo wanted them to be Dragon-type they would have made them Dragon-types.

For Regigigas, you hadn't noticed, the other Regis were created for the purpose of preventing Regigigas from being awakend easily and therefore the Regis are theoretically more powerful than Regigigas.

As for Gardevoir, you mustn't have looked at the Indeterminate Egg Group, notable members include Shellos, Gastrodon, Chimecho, Castform, Wobbuffet, Slugma, Magcargo and almost every single Poison-type. So unless you want all of them to be Ghost-type, I think you might want to reconsider that argument.

As I said before, movesets shouldn't determine a Pokmon's type, and Dawn's taking a fighting stance shouldn't do it either. In the episode #29, The Punchy Pokmon, Pikachu takes a fighting stance when he battles Hitmonchan.

Lucario's Steel type may have a liitle something to do with the fact that his body is made of steel? He even has large steel spikes on his body. Aura is not psychic power, it's to do with emotions not thought.

Love compared to Magic? Maybe, in poetry and soppy soap operas but in real life or the Pokmon world?

Now after all that, I actually agree with your idea for Cherrim's type change.

I agree with charizard and Gyrados to become dragon types, and the only reason I see they aren't officially is because Dragon-type didn't exist when they did, and Nintendo just decided to keep them that way, which was stupid. (I've waited a while for Charizard to be dragon, anyways.) $:\$

Sceptile, Charizard and Gyarados aren't Dragon types because they can be obtained early in the game, and would create unbalance. Imagine a trainer using a Dragon type Pokemon against the 4th-5th Gym Leader! He would win without a doubt.

Now, since Treecko and Charmander are not starters in Bombur, I think they could change to Dragon. I dunno about Magikarp.

Flint didn't have more Fire Pokemon because there were only 2 in Sinnoh.

And you say Lucario has bones of steel? That's impossible. Yes, he may have steel spikes, but that shouldn't make him Steel Type. I say he must be Fight/Psychic. But I am biased because the Fight/Steel combination makes of him a difficult opponent.

Look, the fact remains that ON Pokmon shouldn't be changed based on your personal opinions. If you're really serious about Sceptile, Charizard and Gyarados getting a type change, then you'll also have to give a type change to all the others in the Dragon Egg Group; Ekans, Arbok, Horsea, Seadra, Feebas, Milotic and Seviper. Also, Treecko and Charmander are still possible starters and in my RPG, I was cleared to capture a wild Treecko in the Decorus Woods (I've decided to capture him later though).

If Nintendo wanted Drapion to be Bug/Dark, they would have made him Bug/Dark and if they wanted Aaron to only have Bug-types they could have given him a Kricketune or a Wormadam. Also note that Skorupi's Bug-type was a secondary type.

I never said that Lucario had bones of steel, I said his body is composed of steel, and true most of his body, except some of his face, arms and legs, is in fact steel.

It should be noted for the record that the only times PF changes an official pokmon's type is when we feel it clearly deserves one of our unofficial types: Magic, Light and Wind. We have no interest in changing any of Game Freak's pokmon to a type that they could have made it had they wanted to.

Indeed. No other pokmon than the ones mentioned before will be changed.

Also, remember Cherrim has both a sunny and a non-sunny form. I think making it Grass | Light is not fitting because of that. If it'd be part Light-type itself, it wouldn't be in its non-sunny form anymore.

Pokmon that change their element are special for doing so (what is it now.. Porygon's family, Kekleon, Castform, Wormadam, Arceus). They are notable for being able to change themselves, or using external items/stimulus, liek a form of reversible evolution. Giving Cherrim an extra element now and then goes against that.

Personally, I like the idea of making Ninetails Magic-type. It's based on a magical creature in japanese folklore, is it not? The thing crops up everywhere (Naruto is a good example).
Then again, Espeon is based on the same sort of thing (nekomata - fun fact: literally crotch-cat, as in crotch in a tree, from the split tail). I dunno.

Not at all. The creatures in which Mawile, Frosslass and Jynx are based upon (Futakuchi-onna, Yuki-Onna, possibly the latter or Yama-Uba for Jynx) are not described as wielding magic like Kitsune are. Moreover, Yuki-onna is a ghost that freezes people, fitting Frosslass' typing perfectly without the need of any changes. And ghosts are not exactly considered magical beings; supernatural does not necessarily equal magical, and this also goes for those creatures' origins. Since Kitsune do actually wield magic, and so does Ninetales in a way (one of its dexes says "Legend has it that Ninetales came into being when nine wizards possessing sacred powers merged into one"), I support placing it as Fire/Magic. Then again, I wouldn't mind to leave it pure Fire with access to Magic-type moves.

Espeon is a different case. Even if it is based upon a magical being, there is no reference to this in none of its dexes, unlike Ninetales' which are pretty clear about it.

On another note, shouldn't there be a place for reclassified moves? Loads of moves are deserving of Wind- and Light-types, I even noticed something about Lati@s. Latias's move Mist Ball could be a Wind-type, and Latios's Luster Purge could be a Light-type.

Antarctros, I agree with your reasoning, but to me most dexes are just...well... not true. Look at Weezing; If I'm not mistaken, it says it is Two Koffings; it doesn't evolve when you combine Two Koffings over Years. It just evolves from experience. So do Magnaton and Metagross. ( I dislike the dexes way more than the next guy. )

I think The Abra evolution line should be psychic/magic. OR, there can be an alterenate Kadabra evolution, that when it holds a magic wand and has full happiness, it can evlove into a psychic/magic type. I was thinking of it being called Inshallah. I think thoses are like magic words. I literally just found it. If you want some info on this word go to www.mysteryarts.com/magic/words/Ed.3/?p=247. There are also some other magic words on this site that could be better.

If I were you, soble92, I would hold that thought and instead suggest (once the board is open) a counterpart to the Abra line - so like a three-stage Magic line, possible with names that are magical words. That'd be way more interesting than yet another alternate evolution.

I was going to suggest a new abra line in the new pokemon section, but the site would not allow me to, so I had to suggest it somewhere. Sorry: I didm't know I had to ask about reopening a forum topic. I also like the idea about an alternate evolution line. I was thinking that th only magic word names would only be in the abra line.
