Hello, and welcome to the Weekly Questions Corner!
Every week, I will ask a question. Any and all members of the forum, be they recent members, regulars, or members of staff, are free to answer with their responses, and I will be including mine as well. The question will change late into each Sunday.
This Week's Question:
What is the strangest thing that you have ever seen used as a musical instrument?
For me, it's somewhere between a grinder, a 55-gallon drum, bits of air conditioning piping, ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2G3KfKbJwE ) a slab of sheet metal, ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=m...ed&search= ) and a Speak And Spell. ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUo-FpG5a58 )

I've got a video on my hard drive of a man wearing a special suit that has horns attached to it in various positions. They're the kind of horns that clowns carry around, the ones where you just squeeze the bulb on one end to blow it. The horns all have different pitches, and he can play them by flexing his arms and legs in various ways. In the video he successfully plays three or four songs this way. I suppose it's probably on Youtube somewhere by now.

Do you study any foreign languages? if so, which ones?
I, personally, do study a foreign language, namely French.

I took four years of Spanish in high school. Then, in college, I tried a semester of French under a professor who thought he knew how to teach foreign languages. Not only did I effectively learn no French, I ended up unlearning a fair amount of Spanish from that experience.

In high school I took German and French - though the French teacher wasn't that good. I learned more by reading texts myself, actually.
In college, I studies German for a year. I can now perfectly read and write German - though speaking or understanding remains a little difficult.

I studied English for 6 years at a private institute when I was younger, ending when I got my First Certificate about 7 years ago. Thanks to PF I always keep updated on writing it, thanks to Hollywood movies I keep updated listening to it, but I hardly ever get practice speaking it.

I studied French for a while too, I'm not very good but I can understand and speak a bit.

I can read Brazilian Portuguese, but I learnt that alone.

Ah yes, English, forgot to mention that; not a native language for me either :P I took it on high school, though I don't think it was a good quality actuality. However, all the stuff I read for college is in English, and PF is indeed very good for my English skills ^-^

As for me, English is my native language, and while I've studied a few other languages I'm fluent in none of them. I studies Spanish for 2 years in middle school, 3 (I think, I may have stopped after 2) in high school, and for one semester in college. I wasn't particularly good at it. I studied American Sign Language (ASL) for 2 semesters in high school, since my school had a program where if you got above a certain grade point average in your junior year, they'd pay for you to take one class a semester at a local community college during your senior year. I took ASL both semesters. I also studied Japanese for 2 semesters in college. I don't practice any of them anymore, unless you count watching subtitled anime and using a few Japanese words with my friends.

Legally my native language is Irish but only people who live in the Gaelteacht (irish-speaking areas, literally 'home of the Irish') but i speak English. We learn Irish manditorily in school and I also take Spanish.

CD players or MP3 players?
For me, currently CD players, though I plan to make the shift sometime soon. I'm still buying CDS, though.

It's easier to translate a CD's music into an MP3 file than it is to put MP3s onto a CD. Thus, MP3 player. Plus they're smaller and easier to carry around, and they offer more flexibility in terms of playlists.

I don't have an iPod; I'm happy with a lesser brand. It can't play videos or store pictures, but it can pick up FM Radio without any additional accessories, and that's the way I'd rather use such a device.

I definately want an MP3 player, preferably a Zune because most of my music is on my computer and not on CD.
