What do you mean? :S Pikachu's a pokemon and Ness has psychic powers. Thus, powers. Someone who can't do anything won't be very popular - that's why the pokemon trainer stands back while his pokemon fight.

What makes you think Nsider matters to me? :P I'm stating an opinion, as a veteran gamer. And I also doubt the smartest guys on the web, you know, the ones developing nuclear fusion and such, hang out at Nsider.

Falcon was obviously a FAST guy, abnormally so, to control a ship going at 2000 kph or mph or whatever it is. And we all knew he had martial arts training, which I think counts as power. He lives in the future too, who knows what strange body mods you could get?
Falco and Fox are mercenaries, war veterans, so they'd obviously know how to handle a gun, and they'd be in shape with good reflexes. They've got Slippy, the tech genius, on their side too, developing whatever they need (hover then rise surrounded by flames? Easy.)
Zelda and Sheik, come on. Have you not played the Zelda games? Zelda is a powerful sorceress and has the TRIFORCE of wisdom. She has the power of Nayru. (By the power of Nayru!)
Mr. Game and Watch was about 5 different characters rolled into one, and all the moves he does are done in his games. He can take damage without dying. That's power too.

So no, I don't think Tom Nook will be a fighter. Assist, maybe, but not a main fighter.

At the end of the day, Dr. Mario was still Mario. And nice try :P I'm not saying Tom Nook isn't a good representation of the series, I'm saying he would be about as good a character as a Tetris piece. Not all series Nintendo has supported can produce a fighter - Cooking Mama? Trauma Centre? Phoenix Wright? Brain Training?
I'm not saying these series won't be in the game - some might work as assist trophies or levels. I'm just saying that they wouldn't work as main fighters in the way that the unveiled ones already do.

Well you kind of do, otherwise the game won't be anywhere near as good, and will disappoint fans, thereby losing sales. I'd think twice about it if they threw in every Nintendo character they can come up with, which seems to be your suggestion, instead of actually thinking them through and using things wisely. Thus, Tom Nook is very unlikely to be a fighter. It just fails to make sense. How would a shopkeeper with no special powers (other than economic savvy) be able to hold his own against the Hero of Time/Winds/Twilight, or the multiple saviour of the mushroom kingdom, or the other characters with special powers or abilities?
I'm not saying Tom Nook won't be in the game (hell, he already is), I'm saying he won't be a fighter. Perhaps he'd make a good assist trophy, maybe giving you some damage (instead of money) in return for a shovel or something. Fighter, never.

I think you're failing to understand the meaning of two words here:
Debate: Reasoned argument between a group of two or more people. Not a contest to see who wins. I see your point of view, I just don't hold to it myself. Stop trying to tell me Tom Nook will be a fighter because I just don't think he will.
Community: A group of people. Not just you. The three people who have posted in this thread against your views weren't always staff members, we started out as regular forum-goers too. If you persist in trying to force your views on us, and the community, I'm going to change the topic's title to "Gelatop's SSBB Roster" and lock it. That way we could start an official PF thread for it instead. Ok?

Now as for characters I think COULD be in it (disclaimer: this is BR's personal opinion and nothing more):
Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, of course Sonic and Tails might make a good double team, like Ice Climbers.
If Zelda doesn't turn into Shiek this time, Impa would be a good character to add. Like Shiek but with more power.

And for this board especially: POGEYMANS
Blaziken! Blaziken would make a great fighter, don't you think? Or Infernape, equally. They could have either Blast Burn or Overheat as a final smash, but I have an inkling that Blast Burn would be taken by the pokémon trainer (the smash would depend on which pokemon took it).
Shiftry would also work pretty well, plenty of scope with Dark-type attacks, and Solarbeam as a Final Smash.
Ampharos might make a good fighter too, although I think electric-types are spoken for with Pikachu.
Carnivine might be fun, or Roserade.
Tangrowth, Electivire or Magmortar would be cool too
Kangaskhan or Cacturne would be interesting, but Cacturne and Shiftry couldn't be in together.
