I agree with Botispine here. I was already suspecting as well that Lukario might be more like Absol in rarity. I never found it really legendarish to start with. In fact, I hope it will be more like Absol.

Anyways, as for the starters, the grass one is once again my absolute favorite. I like how it is on all four again. After Bulbasaur and Chikorita, Treecko was a bit different. This turtle's great again! Maybe its final form will have a huge tree on its head, or back.
I like the penguin too, but I'm not too fond of the fire ape... I never related apes to fire, actually... I can live with them, though ^-^

This fire ape might get in the way of resuggesting Bababoon and Boomandril, come to think of it.

You know, the screenshots Serebii has up do show a new style dex. And I think there's even a type bar in it!

Actually, as soon as I saw the ape I decided not to resuggest Bababoon and Boomandril. Taking Mandrilurk and Mandrobber into account, that would be just too much. Too bad, I really liked them. But at least I'm glad that one of Nintendo's ideas is so similar to one of mine. For those who didn't meet these pokmon, here they are:

Concerning the new dex. It shouldn't be beyond PF to make the dex but there wouldn't be any purpose of keeping em in .gif if the text doesn't move and from the looks of Emerald, Pearl and Diamond are unlikely to have it either. Unless you do something like have the data switch to the size and then to weight. That may cause problems too (regarding how it compares the players entered height and weight) but you should probably use a figure around a Twelve-Thirteen year old size and weight. Like 4' 9" or something and around 100 LBS. (heh. Turning thirteen this month but I'm abit taller than most kids or I woulda put my own height.) Omg though. Alot of kids don't play enough sports and weigh 120 LBS. But since this is likely an energetic character keep it around 100. This is if we decide on this and if they change the dexes like that.

Still, the main (and probably only) page of the DP pokdex that will matter to PF will be the dex info.

Let's just wait and see. Maybe there will be a two page dex info again. Although a "p1" and "p2" symbol appears to be missing...

Gif files do take up way less space than a bmp of jpg file would, though. Not to mention the bad quality of jpg files. Anyway, the other option could be a png file, but it's not that big a deal, is it?

Anyways, have you guys seen the gray starling pokmon that was reveiled? It looks great! And I SO hope they'll make it more like Pidgey, with two evolutions ahead of it.

Yes! Me too! Quite frankly, I'm tired that all of the recent Pidgey-esque pokmon aren't, well Pidgey-esque, in the sense that the only have one evolution instead of two.

It appears that the sprite of it on the battle screen and its sprite in the Pokedex are different. Which can lead to a few conclusions:

* Moving battle sprites
* Sprites varying between versions
* The sprite has since been changed

I'm rooting for the first. I always dug the moving sprites in Crystal.

I just noticed something else: the official sprites seem to be 80 x 80 pixels. If anyone else wants to check this, you'll need to know how to use "View > Source," since serebii doesn't allow right-clicking.

Yes, I had noticed that. 80x80... screws up my SuperDex-dex :/ Those sprites will probably make all of the RSE sprites look small comparatively...

The Japanese version wouldn't need two pages and probably has never had two pages. Japanese words are smaller than English words because each Japanese "letter" actually represents a syllable. For example, Bulbasaur's Japanese name is Fushigidane (trans. "mysterious seed"). Notice that it's 11 letters long? Well, that's true only in Roman lettersin Japanese it's only five characters long. Fu, Shi, Gi, Da, Ne. Five characters is the name length limit in Japanese versions, and that's plenty for them. Similarly, they wouldn't need two pages of space in their Pokdex info.

Define 'natural'. In RBYGSC the sprite size was 56x56. At ezBoard the avatar pic size is 60x60. In RSE and Fr/LG it's 64x64, and now apparently they're increasing it again.

So basically we'll figure it out when the games arrive. Let's hope the backlog ends soon or we'll have to adapt to the new dexes early and do some dexes over again. I wonder if the POKEMON Ranger will have a POKEDEX. If so, we should include somedexes like that too since you can only get Manafi in Ranger. (Unless you trade the egg which is the only way to make it hatch.)

I see... Well, then it isn't unlikely that we'll see two pages of dex info once more. Nice.

Anthony: yes, we'll figure out once the games arrive. However, we won't have to dex over, as we'll just finish approved pokmon in the format they were approved in. We'll most probably won't use a Pokmon Ranger pokdex since that isn't really a main game. Manafi's DP entry will most likely be posted on a pokmon website soon enough once DP are out.
And one more thing, we will not switch to DP once the games are out in Japan. We'll have to wait for an American release before we're able to use the DP dex format. Besides, I'm willing to approve at least 100 more RSE pokmon before switching, if not up to #FA400.

Oh, and Blueeyes, you literally took the words out of my mouth. Hoothoot and Swellow indeed just aren't Pidgey-ish enough with only one stage ahead of them.

A picture of a possible evolution of the grass turtle has surfaced at Serebii.net. It doesn't look as cool as it could've been. These starters aren't impressing me, I must say. Which is a shame, because the advanced gen. starters were amongst the best Pokemon from that generation.

Another board I'm on just posted a link to a Japanese commercial for Diamond and Pearl, which looks legitimate. What's shown of the game looks good, in my opinion. The animation appears smoothee than in previous games. And when pokemon are encountered in battle, it looks like they do move, but more like in Emerald than in Crystal.
