Here is my Sapphire Team, my most favored team as a matter of fact. Can someone look over it and tell me how to improve it?

Pokémon Factory VIP

I try my best, when team-building, to get pokémon with all double types. It doubles your range of attacks and strengths but halves your ability to use them, but it's not so bad when they have powerful moves like Solarbeam.
I also use legendary pokémon a lot because they have great stats, likewise starters. I always carry on with my starters from the beginning, and it's without fail my strongest pogeyman. I also like to include a Dragon if possible - only weak to two elements but strong to much more.

Your team seems to mostly be single types, which for me would be too restricting, but then that might just be your style. Also you've got two Dark-types there, meaning five types over all. Compare that to my 11/12-type teams:

Ruby team:
Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, concentrate on Fire)
Medicham (Psychic/Fighting but too useful to pass up despite the Fighting overlap)
Shiftry (Dark/Grass, Solarbeam + Chlorophyll teamed with

Groudon (Ground but useful for any physical attacks, plus Drought)
Walrein (Water/Ice, focus on Ice because of the strength against Dragons)
Altaria (Dragon/Flying, Dragons are always useful because of their type relations)

Fire Red team:
Charizard (Fire/Flying, Blast Burn + Charcoal + STAB = 250 power, coupled with starter stats making it something to behold)
Haunter (Ghost/Poison, both useful types)
Rhydon (Rock/Ground, thus good defence and offence. Yay Earthquake.)
Lapras (Water/Ice, good special and defence)
Blissey (Ridiculous special stats, plus Softboiled for long battles)
Magneton (Electric/Steel, good defense plus Shock Wave and Zap Cannon)

I like combos, like sending out Groudon first for Drought, then I can use Shiftry with Chlorophyll to strike quickly with Solarbeam, or boost the attack power of Blaziken's fire moves (like Blast Burn, Overheat + Charcoal + STAB + Sunny Day = 300 power).
also, with those teams I can counter any type thrown against me - you'd have trouble with something like Tyranitar, which has the Dark type to counter Gardevoir and the ark types on your team, and the Rock to counter Ninetails and Swellow. THEN, Earthquake for Ninetails and Raichu, good physical moves on Absol, Mightyena and Swellow, Crunch on Gardevoir. I think a Quagsire would also fare well, and possibly Mawile with Dark attacks.

So my advice would be to cover more weaknesses - swap out one of the Dark types for maybe a Salamence, or a good dual type like Medicham, Starmie, Walrein, something like that.

I agree that either the Mightyena or the Absol should go. It's redundant, especially since they have nearly the same moveset. And do you realize half your party takes double damage from Bug-type attacks? It's not wise to let half your party be vulnerable to any attack type.

As for using legends, that's actually frowned upon in more competitive play. Legends are seen as a crutch; only a talentless player has to rely on them to win.

The point is that Legends are far from the only good pokmon. An experienced competitve trainer who knows what (s)he's doing can defeat a novice's Legends using non-legendary pokmon without breaking a sweat. In Advance Gen, with the right moveset Ludicolo is recognized as a potent Legend-killer.

Ludicolo is annoying to all pokemon not just Legendaries. XD I'm just kidding, but Poryhedron's right that legendaries aren't the best. They definately have some advantages go.

I'm not a very competitive-minded person, so I can't give very good advice to people about their teams when mine aren't very formidable either. I just train a team filled with pokemon I've never raised before, and try to beat the Elite Four at the end.
