Well Pf has at 2 evolution methods that I have seen so far:

Evolving with a stat booster or Rare Canmdy while poisoned and trade (Seel into Insanatee)

Hatching an egg by day or by night
Day= Photithica
Night= Benethica

We've also got Sadness-evos (pokmon who evolve when their Happiness is low enough.) Plus, before D/P came out with pokmon evolving if they know a certain move, I created a pokmon that evolves when taught certain moves by TM. That one was lost in the May Hack and I'm not finished reconstructing it.

There's also FA090 E-mouse who evolves into FA092 Spamouse by pressing the B button while it's evolving.

Also there's FA123 Rediate who evolves into FA124 Detonova at lv.45, but if you wait until lv.55 you'll lose the chance to get Detonova and get FA125 Gravitark. I don't know if you'd count that as a new method, but I think it's new.

1. Level up when afflicted with a status condition

2. Trade holding Nevermeltice, Spell Tag, Soft Sand, and Hard Stone.

3. Level up with maximum Coolness, Toughness, Cuteness, or Smartness.

4. Level up with high Attack, Defense, Speed, Sp. Atk, or Sp. Def.

5. Level up on an even or odd level.

Those all sound like excellent ideas. Since the hypothetical games in my region (Tuloh) have day and month as well as time, I made Pokemon that evolve in certain months. In Tuloh, Carnivine evolves into Jackovine (GRASS/GHOST) in October, and Sudowoodo evolves into Sudoyule (ROCK/ICE) in December. I also had Solrock evolve into Sunova (ROCK/FIRE, it'd be ROCK/LIGHT if it took place in Bombur) by using a Sun Stone during the day, and Lunatone evolve into Twilune (ROCK/DARK) by using a Moon Stone at night.

D/P/Pt had day, month, and year. In the Journal thing, it lists those three at the top. And, you could just use the Light type in Tuloh...

Evolution based on the levels of other pokemon in the team? For example, if Weepinbell evolves when all other pokemon in team have higher levels, it will evolve into something like "Losabel"

What about Pokemon that evolve based on the Ability they have? Since some Pokemon have 2 possible abilities, maybe one ability could evolve into one Pokemon, and the other ability evolves into another? Or maybe a Pokemon that evolves by trading after a certain level? Or even a Pokemon that evolves by eating a certain berry?

Just thought I'd bring this up: PF encourages the introduction of new evolution methods (we've actually beaten Nintendo to things such as gender-based evolution), so you're all welcome to incorporate these into new, future suggestions ^-^
However, a new evolution method will force you to think about the quality of your suggestion even more than you would normally need to. A new ability method must be incorporated flawlessly, and make sense in your suggestion's concept, otherwise it will just fail to impress.

I just thought of another one: different evolution by personalities. A pokemon with a Jolly personality might turn into a light-based pokemon, a pokemon with a Naughty personality might turn into a dark-based pokemon, and so on. I think that would be good for evolutions with completely different feels to them, like PF282 Missrey.

@Soble Yeah I've always wondered why they didn't change that. Simple level evolution seems too... simple.
@Pielord Do you mean overall or online?
I also realized that PF has already done one of my suggestions

. Look at PF#273-274. Destoxila evolves into Desmodo by trading with a dragon fang after lvl. 20.

The reason Gamefreak has not changed the evolution method of Slowpoke is probably the same reason they didn't make Eevee evolve into Leafeon using a Leaf Stone: to maintain continuity between games. While this was not done flawlessly (Lickitung was able to learn Rollout in Emerald as an example), I think that is a good way of doing things. Of course I wouldn't be too heartbroken if they did change Slowpoke to that method. They just have to make sure that Shellder is available in the same game around the same time.

Anyway, good ideas everyone. I personally like the idea of making pokemon evolve based on the season, not necessarily the month.

I was thinking of that, but there are too many possibilities; you might have to catch 100 of a single Pokemon just so that it can evolve. With gender, it's more reasonable.
