Skreetle
(オゴチュウ - Ogochu)
Rattle Bug Pokemon
Bug/Ground

A mainstay from the Old Argeon Dex, Skreetle is a relatively rare Pokemon, found only in the Sandy Hole. As a Bug- and Ground-type Pokemon, Skreetle spends most of its time digging itself burrows and keeping itself cool under the sands. It is preyed on, unfortunately, by other Pokemon, most notably Swellow. That's why Skreetle constantly relocate their burrows, making new ones every day after destroying their old ones. Their burrows are kept structurally sound with their saliva, reinforcing the walls into a muddy, cement-like mixture.

Skreetle are naturally skittish, and will try not to fight as often as possible. That's why it often tries to Intimidate its enemies by rattling the chitinous plates lining its back. When threatened, Skreetle will roll up into a ball, protecting it from damage. If threatened even further, Skreetle will attack aggressively -- some Skreetle have been known to use Poison Jab on unsuspecting Trainers who took a step in the wrong direction.

(Skreetle is based on the pillbug, which is strangely enough not a true insect. Skreetle's name comes from SCREECH and BEETLE. Skreetle's Japanese name comes from the Japanese phrase for loud (ogoe no) and the Japanese word for beetle (kochuu).)
