someone suggested that making the flames blue would make it more different from Rapidash.

Oops. I just noticed my mistake. I said it's the evolution of Rapidash, but i meant to say the evolution of Ponyta. If Ponyta reaches level 40 during the day, it evolves into Rapidash. if it evolves at night, it becomes Uniclipse. sorry for the mix-up. ^_^;

And as to why it's an evolution, i think it does look a bit too much like Rapidash to be a seperate species.

you think a pre-evo would be a good idea? Hmmm... instead of a black horse, perhaps it could be a grey colt.

Type: perhaps Twilight? if the evolution is night, it's make sense for the pre-evo to the twilight.
Description: I'm thinking more a soft grey than black. 3 resaons for this: grey ashes, to go with the flame; at twilight everything sort of greys out as the sun sets; and grey is lighter than black, so the pre-evo of a black pokemon could be grey. as for the mane, perhaps yellows and oranges again, to look more like a sunset.
Element: Fire/Dark again.
Dex: not sure yet, but it've been thinking maybe something about they like to watch the sunset?

As you can probably tell, this is still very rough, and suggestions for making it better would be good. I won't be able to get on for a couple days, since I'm going away for the weekend to look at colleges. I'll get back to you after i get back.

I also think Equnox might be a pretty good name. The smoke sounds pretty good, too. I wanted to find some way to make it different from Ponyta and Rapidash, but wasn't sure how, since Uniclipse already has flames. Smoke might do well, possiby blue-grey to match it's grey color sceme, and also to match Uniclipse's blue flames.
