I noticed in another thread that we seem to have a lot of Bronies among us. So I decided to create a little thread just for us. ^_^ This thread is for discussing anything Pony-related (though a little non-Pony related discussion is fine). Begin, everypony!

I used to identify a a brony, but then it turned out that the majority of bronies are racist, homo/transphobic and ablist. So nuts to that, I just like the show, not the fandom.

I would be in the same boat as Bonzai, but I don't know enough bronies to judge. However, the ones I know in real life are good people. Fortunately, I don't hang around many online brony communities, so I don't usually see the dark side of the fanbase.

Really, bonzai? I've looked up a lot of pony stuff, and I saw the opposite. I saw acceptance, love, and tolerance.

Yeah, really; I'm not going to link it or anything, but a friend of mine complained about a certain character, and got called all sorts of horrible things for having a valid point about the representation. Just don't go thinking MLP doesn't have its dark underbelly like any other fandom, is all.

Every fandom has a dark underbelly. Pokemon probably has one. So are you not going to associate as a Pokefan? :P Those who act like that aren't true bronies anyway. They don't follow the code of love and tolerance!

Bonzairob is right. None of the bronies I know are able to carry a conversation long enough without it degenerating into a series of racial slurs. Incidentally, all of the bronies I know are from 4Chan.

The friend n question was known for speaking out against the pony Cacapulse posted being called "derpy" - so when it was cut from the show, she was flooded with transphobic insults (despite not being trans).

Gelatop, the difference is bronies acting like the above, where pokemon fans would not. "True bronies" seem to be the 4chan kind, where MLP fans are fine. "True pokefans" are people like us, and negative, horrible fans tend to be ostracized.

I personally don't buy the 'true fan' thing for any fandom. In my eyes, if you're a fan, you're a fan. Bronies are just people, and people don't all share the acceptance that is demonstrated by the show, hypocritical as it is.

Okay, fine. But I think you'll find people like that everywhere.

What I meant by not being a true brony was this: Yes, they are bronies, but they don't act with love and tolerance, so they don't follow the brony standards. Maybe I need to use a different term.

I always thought the motto was 'love and tolerate.' That said, I love and tolerate these fans, I just don't like them.
