I got overhyped for Black and White transitions and made a new avatar which I've been updating for a while - the finished version is this:

As a note, we probably won't be doing moving sprites mostly because teaching and creating quality animation on top of producing quality work will only have spriters forced to take up more production time.

It's got a particle effect in it that should not exist in one frame - I didn't remove it when I thought I had >x<

But the sprites don't have animation...

I think you should make it loop. I was trying to find the particles you mentioned and it was too annoying to have to leave and enter the thread to see it again. And also, if your posts on a particular page aren't within the first like two, the animation will finish before anyone can see it.

@ Rahjet - I think so too

@ flarsable - It's the white cloudy thingy that appears when the sprite swiped his arm. It wasn't supposed to stay but I never removed it like I thought. If you wanted to replay it, I understand it's a hassle, but the endless looping just made me feel like it would slowly irritate people. And some trainer sprites do have animation (HGSS, BW) and all pokemon now have animations constantly, the thing is, we probably won't do it for PF.

if you open up a new tab of the image it looks much better. I like it a lot.

Not in the Dexes they don't. It's one of the few places a static sprite can be obtained.

More observations:

1. There's some particle scraps in the last pose for Anthony's, at the right side (for us) of his neck. There are also some around his wrist in the same pose.

2. I think you messed up the outline on his hand in the first pose on Anthony. And by messed up I mean forgot.

Also Cain has red hair WHAT.

Cain's always had red hair oxo... And yes - Im aware of the particles, they're just really hard to see in photoshop.

the only complaint with this new sprite is that it looks like he's pulling his hood forwards but the hood falls back anyways. Otherwise I'd say it's an improvement especially in the way you animated the hair. Yowza.

I'm bad with sprites so the less positioning with those hands, the better, but you are right, unless he can just flick that hood off with his fingertips, it seems a bit awkward.

don`t get me wrong though. I see an immense improvement. It might also be fun to try other styles of trainer sprites too.

Lazy.gif.... >x> Only did that with Anthony. Aaron's labcoat is a scientist sprite but otherwise everything is stuff I did except for height comparisons.

You seem to be under the impression that the Gym Leaders have powers relating to the type they teach. I am almost positive that plants do not grow that fast, and I am certain that they are not bearing Poke Ball fruits. Other than that and the fact that I don't know exactly where Aaron and Calleo's animations start (I think Calleo's is when he scratches his head), they're incredibly great.

I'm not under the impression of anything. That would imply a wrong belief in something. It's my aesthetic choice. I want them to be different. Also, it's pokemon, and there are pokeball bearing trees (or apricots anyway). A pokeball bearing plant does not seem impossible albeit nonsensical by that logic. Suspend belief for like... 10 seconds? That so hard?

Also, it's not having powers. Is it so hard to believe the gym leader wants to make an awesome entrance and uses his pokemon to do so? If you disbelieve in the plant, just imagine it as vine whip or something of Calleo's Branthorn giving him a Pokeball.

Also, fast growing plant: http://www.ehow.com/video_4755354_what-fastest-growing-plant.html so, I'm not exaggerating more than a good 24x the official fastest growing plant.

Again, it's Pokemon, suspend belief please. I'm not under a wrong impression, I'm just enjoying something.
