I've been thinking about redesigning my former Pokemon persona. Make him fit in a little better with the new generation of pokemon. Maybe even design a couple forms for him. He is supposed to be a shape shifter. I was never happy with the design I gave him. Or the spelling of the name, for that matter. What do you all think? (for anyone who actually remembers my character.)

Nice start. We should also start with the look. We need a basic look so the other forms have a basis... because shapeshifter and Transformer are different, right?

The typing would also help. That way it can have 2 formes, one that is more like one of its types than the other. Take for example: Giratina. The origin forme looks more like a ghost type while the alternate forme looks more like a dragon.

The name is a smoosh of Chimera and Shimmer. I remember I went through several spellings cause they are very similar sounding words and settled for the oddest spelled one.
He's a Dragon/ Poison type. As I recall he was inspired by the gene splicing episode of Batman Beyond coupled by the first Mission Impossible movie (the Tom Cruise one. remember the Chimera virus?)
It's funny, I had the idea for two forms back then. One was a hunting form, the other was for fast movement long distances. Alternate forms weren't introduced until R/S so I just mentioned it in the dex info. So much stuff is thought up at the factory that ends up being part of the game. I wonder if it's just a coincidence.

Something that occurred to me is that you could have three forms, each one emphasizing a particular part of a chimera: the lion could be the hunter, focused on Attack, the goat the speedster focused on... well you know, and the snake could be stealthy, with a more balanced stat distribution.

In keeping with the original Chimera myth, Schimre should be capable of dealing devastating damage with fire, but maybe only in his basic form? Also, a unified colour scheme would be a good way to keep in tradition but each forme taking on the colours of that part of the chimera could also be an interesting break from said tradition.

Why not try making it a type that no other pokemon has yet? And maybe that type can change within each forme?

Lion forme: normal/dragon
Snake forme: normal/poison
Goat forme: normal/wind

@Nikilx; Basically, my suggestion was just expanding slightly on Antarctros's, saying that if Schimre has a basic forme in addition to the three Antarctros suggested, it should be able to breathe fire like a chimera.

I also said that in regards to Schimre's colour scheme, that if each forme had the same colour scheme, it would keep in line with the way a lot of shapeshifters in Pokemon work, i.e. Ditto, Deoxys, Giratina, Shaymin but if each forme had the colour scheme of the part of Schimre it is based on, that would make Schimre more unique.

@MisterSmeargle: Ditto doesn't keep its color scheme when it Transforms. Also, I think the base form is the Lion Form and is also one of the three.
@soble: I like the idea, but the shared type shouldn't be Normal. I think it should be Dragon, with Fire being the secondary type for the Lion Form. I also disagree with the Goat Form's secondary type being Wind, because it has no wind powers.

Will you keep the name Schimre? If you want a difficult name to pronounce that symbolizes a creature that´s not meant to be beheld and comprehended by mankind, the same style Cthulu has, you should keep it.

@MrSmeargle: I see what you mean. But the RBGY games are monochrome. That was before gameboy color, remember?

@soble92 and Flarsable: Dragon would be it's common type if this is the route I would go. How would it change forms anyway? I've never tried changing Giratina's form or Shamin's. Would Schimre be like Arceus were his special ability changes his type and form?

With deoxys and rotom, they change into their multiple forms by touching different object (deoxys:meteors :: rotom:electrical appliances). For giratina and arceus, they change forms by holding onto a specific item (giratina:platinum orb :: arceus: plates). Shaymin changes forms by just touching its special item, the gracidia flower. Castform and Cherrim (and I'm guessing Castorm) changes formes with the weather. Burmy changes formes by where they last battled.

So you can choose from any one of these.

Ditto kept its color in the GS games, too, and those aren't monochrome...
