Maybe we can incorparate some aspects of the mandrake into this? And it will probably need a pre-evo. For a name, how about Longuard (Long, chinese for dragon+Guard) or Guardiang (Guardian+Plant+Long)?

Sounds pretty good. I could image its arms or tail work somewhat like Magmar's arms, but with layers of pine tree branches.

For the pine tree features, I imagine its head, claws, or tail could be shaped more or less like a pine tree.
