You need R/S/E/FR/LG inserted into the DS in order to unlock certain Pokemon in the wild, too. So, if you want to catch them all, you really do need the rest. The Pokemon Factory - It Starts With An Idea

Oh yes it is.Although, on the other hand, you still do need Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, Leaf Green and Emerald to get them all, so the only difference is that you dont actually need to trade the Pokmon this time around.Still, its nice that all those monster...

It looks like the only pokemon that aren't somehow available in D/P without trading are the starters and legenaries from other reasons (which makes sense to me). This ought to be good news for all the collectors out there.

Some actually have back sprite differences, Ive heard.Oh, and yeah, theres only one sprite for genderless and gender-exclusive Pokmon.

Actually every Pokmon has a male and female sprite, but for almost all of them the differences are nigh unnoticeable.And as it turns out, GameFreak did make a pure Flying-Type: Aruseus with the Flying Plate.

From the looks of it, there are fairly few pokmon that have different sprites.ROFLOL, that Wobbuffet!ShinEdit: which reminds me, take a look at Slaking :P
